OH YEAH!!!
Was that movie even supposed to be here?
Anyhoo, a friend of mine has Mallrats and Chasing Amy on his computer, and I saw bits and pieces of it, but it's not that funny as the other movies. _________________

Clerks was Kevin Smith's debut movie. black and white, low budget, several guys playing a few parts each, first appearance of Jay and Silent Bob in the background, kinda alternative feeling, witty dialogue, nerdy allusions. not that stupid as it seems on the first glance, too.
afterwards, Kevin Smith went on to produce more films, which got weaker and weaker and weaker still, among them only Chasing Amy is worth attention.
now, after hitting the bottom under the bottom with Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, he apparently found himself in such a position that shame means nothing to him any longer, so he excavates his only good idea and tries to milk it once more.
my opinions. _________________ i have no time for anal love

I wouldn't say Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back was the lowest of low... but... personal opinion... _________________

I've seen all of Kevin's movies with the exception of Jersey Girl. They all had their moments at one point or another, but I wouldn't call any of them "all that and a bag of chips", though by far, Clerks was the all-around funniest.
I also read his Daredevil run, which I wasn't terribly impressed by. I haven't read his Green Arrow run yet.
I'm kinda glad he gave up on Superman years ago, then chickened out of Green Hornet. If his previous films and the DD story are anything to go on, those woulda sucked.
Just my $.02, but I was just on a Kevin Smith rant earlier tonight, so I figured I'd share some of my anger and disappointment here. _________________ "SUPERMAN HATES MILK WITH THE FIERY INTENSITY OF A THOUSAND SUNS!"

he only made clerks two as an incentive for Jay Mewes to get off the heroin. Kevin told him if he stayed clean for a year he would make clerks 2.
I'm still not sure if it will be any good, but i love me some randall _________________ It's a Chigger Bite |

Thank God one of the guys in my class also loves Kevin Smith. Here's a few examples...
We established that I'm the bitch, and he's the butch. Whenever I ask him why I'm the bitch, he says "Dude, if we were gay, that's the way I'd see it..." and then I reply with "Will you shut up?"
When we go out for a smoke and we lean against the school building (the front of the school consists of really big windows, so we're leaning against the glass) we re-enact that scene from Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back were they're in front of the other supermarket and they can't sit comfortly. We sometimes get really weird looks...
Ah well, and some more stuff... really funny... _________________

I liked a few parts of Dogma. Of course, any time Ben Affleck is on the screen in any movie it totally sucks, since Ben Affleck totally sucks. I doubt he could act dead if you killed him.
But I came to Clerks with more than an open mind. I came to it expecting to like it a lot, since it was highly recommended. And I thought it was stupid and totally unfunny. I kept with it for most of the movie, waiting for it to get good. But I actually felt sick to my stomach after the chunky girl had sex with the creepy old man in the back room. That was the point that I turned it off.
I understood it was a film school movie, made on a very very tiny budget. That's why it was black an white, etc. And it was an amazingly huge unexpected success, and all that.
But whatever. _________________

I'm a fan of all his cinematic work. I first saw Clerks on home video and at the time it was the funniest movie I'd ever seen, bar none. The humor in it and the subject matter, not to mention the fact that I was a retail wage slave and had been one for some time, seemed to speak to me and others like me. Mallrats, the follow up, was fantastic as well. Clerks was better, but Mallrats I found had a more mainstream feel to it. I enjoyed it greatly. I especially like all the plans that Jay and Bob made with the Roadrunner-like blueprints.
Chasing Amy came next and I have to say, even though it's more serious and deals with more "real" human emotions and such, I was disappointed. I still like the movie, but I found it too heavy and dramatic. Which is why I was so thrilled with Dogma when it came out. What really made me happy was all the stupid christian fundamentalists coming out of nowhere to protest the movie when they had never seen a single minute of the actual film. God forbid (no pun intended) a film have anything to do with religion, especially a film made by a guy who previously had suggested a young girl had sex with a dead guy!
Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back was a roadtrip movie of epic proportions. So much going on, so cheesy and silly, and an orangutan! It doesn't get any better than that!
Jersey Girl was something I had planned on not seeing, simply because I was afraid it would totally suck. But it was funny and sweet, and I got to see Jennifer Lopez die and Ben Affleck actually act for once.
I'm looking forward to Clerks II so much! _________________ "I do not feel obliged to believe that the same God who has endowed us with sense, reason, and intellect has intended us to forgo their use."
