And, Is this supposed to be in New York or just some unnamed town?-

-Thing is man, if you have a just happen to have a technology solution to everything that's thrown at you, it seems a little too convenient, and besides, it kills any sense of spontaneity and interest in the story.

You happen to be in a city with a Xenomorph presence, and you're right away able to divine this fact, AND instantaneously able to track it down without any problems, despite the fact that he's set up his lair in such a way that it's not easy to find, without prior explanation, even before he's given himself away through clues, like hunting in the park.

After that, when he turns hostile and imprisons you, you just HAPPEN to have a laser that you made no mention of before you were captured, so you can easily escape with no trouble.

Then, after Aramor makes the point that you'd not be able to understand a Xenomorph's speech, you just HAPPEN to have a chip implanted in your brain that allows you to understand any form of communication.

Now you have a wormhole generator and an air-powered car, both of which are centuries ahead of contemporary technology.

Doesn't this strike you as being a little TOO convenient? Just a little?

It's bad writing, and it makes for boring reading, because every reader knows that whenever you're in a tight spot, you're just going to pull a technology-inspired "tight-spot-remover" out of your pants, and get away, even though you never made any mention of making the preparation beforehand. It might work for Adam West, and if you want it to work for you, you'll have to be comic relief, and have no impact on the story.

No one likes playing a game with a character who can change the rules on any of his turns.

Do you sort of understand what I'm saying?-

-Right, I understand now.
For explanations:
1. I never used the laser (although possible to make one)
2. I happened to stumble upon the Xeno's lair, weary.
3. I planned the brain-implention thing. (he also said I must've had a telepathic device in my head)
4. I never said the air-powered car could go more than 2 MPH ('cuz it can't)
5. I said I was a "techno-freak", implying I had the technology to build a wormhole generator.
6. A list of things I have:
- Laser (only cuts through 2 centimeters of skin at most, short battery life)
- Wormhole generator (only one)
- Air-powered car (2mph)
- Implanted chips enhancing mental, visual, and physical attributes (but not by much, they will also occasionally glitch)
I will also invent new (random) items at times, but not out of nessesity.

Did I miss anything/ anything else need to explain?-

-I think you're ok now, sorry for busting your chops and all, just wanted to make sure you weren't going to make yourself unbeatable and take all the fun out of the game.-

Those posts were annoying, next time please resort to PM messaging. Addendum to rules: Deus Ex Machina is out. This means that you Stupidgenius, better rework your game fast.

I think we can give you the slip this time but make sure that telepathy device of yours blows a fuse or somthing.

Do you know what kind of resources you would have to come up with to generate a wormhole? The fucking negative mass of Jupiter for a hole one meter in diameter!. Not to mention the effects of such a gravitational distortion in such close proximity to Earth. Also wormholes open up the possibility of time travel, which is simply too unbalancing. Addendum to rules restricting this power. If you need some sort of instant-travel device, stick to teleportation.

In summary I think you can keep going on the crazy radical scientist route, but just make a couple revisions to your character and abilities, ie restrict yourself for God's sake.

Ok, so you said you came back from the airport... so you just happened to stumble across the abandoned industrial area, only to stumble upon the most inconspicious (I mean that it looks just like the rest and you can't notice a thing about it) building of them all, then you stumble-crawled up the walls, because the only way in is via a hole in the roof, which is not accessible through ladders or anything else, and all the doors on the outside are covered in months work of splashing sticky shit on it, and then you stumbled across the one out of many air vents that after 30 minutes of stumbling from airduct to airduct led to my hive... and then you also managed to stumble your way through all the dead end corridors into the breeding room... you must've been very weary...

Simon- I can't read minds...just understand languages ( Aramor's Xeno-telepathy is a launguage.)
Also, the "wormhole generator" is really just a drawing, but no one's character can know that untill they actually touch it or something.

Crotchfire- It's okay...no harm done.

Vevlaa
- Hovercars run on gasoline/batteries! My car looks like a quasi-normal car.

Aramor- Correct.

Unfortunately, it's still mind reading. Unless Aramor wants you to know what he's thinking, you still don't have the password to his server.

In analysis, what Stupid pulled was not Deus Ex Machina. Merely an abundance of futuristic tech and fantastic gizmos. Deus Ex Machina, in my understanding, is basically pulling things out of your ass to save your ass.

However I still stand that the telepathy and wormhole powers are simply too powerful to be acceptable.
