This is really old, but I just thought of it again and love it so much.
http://www.thewebshite.net/nickelback.htm
It's possible, maybe likely, that whoever made this flash app adjusted the tempo and/or pitch of one or both songs (can anyone confirm, deny?), but still it rocks, as much as Nickelback doesn't. |

Bernie, I can confirm that Nickelback suck. I can't confirm that the two songs are the same. I'm proud to have none of their music on CD or MP3 to the best of my knowledge. |

Nickelback ARE good. If they were a famous band known from the 70's rock-scene you'd all be in love with them.
Just because they're in today doesn't make their riffs any less rock. They have strong rockin' beats and sound like a great rock band. One of the very few things Roadrunner have picked up on.
And I'll bet money that the majority of you have heard 'How You Remind Me' and instantly have made up your opinion on them. Which is insanely stupid. _________________

sorry, but it's got nothing to do with their being from the 70's or 90's or whatever. if the music's good it's good (another story is that ultimately it's always the matter of personal taste and de gustibus of course non est disputandum).
in this case the problem is the extreme repetitiveness. there is nothing wrong in cultivating your distinctive style, in fact that's the whole point (we both know how iron maiden stick to their own way of writing and playing songs, and if they changed it drastically it would kill the whole maiden essence) but nickelback are stretching this too far. as exemplified by the 2 songs in question.
also, this is my subjective opinion but i don't see how their riffs rock. they're as far from hard rock as green day from punk. similar genre washing-out mechanism.
feel free to polemize (is there even such a verb???) _________________ i have no time for anal love

As an ACDC fan, I don't see how you can find that a problem.
Nickelback are on all the compilations for men in their 40's for a reason, y'know. They supply the rockin' goods. I will infact guarantee when my father has all his friends round this Saturday, Nickelback will be on. The band have elders instead of youngsters as fans, and I think that's awesome.
Edit: I've just listened to them two songs combined, and that sounded rather good. _________________

yes, and we return to the starting point that eventually everything is subjective. for me, AC/DC have (well, maybe used to have until the very recent) the style, the attitude, the guts, the humour, the energy, the rock'n'roll, while Nickelback represent nothing near this class. but that's just me.
also, if i were at your father's saturday meeting, i most definitely wouldn't like the Nickelback crap to butt in between Deep Purple, The Who, Jethro Tull, Free, Ten Years After, Uriah Heep, etc.- the rock elite. this Kroeger-dude is not even in the same league.
p.s. now i actually feel like dropping by on saturday _________________ i have no time for anal love

You'd be surprised how well Nickelback can fit in at a night like that. Say you've just had Free Bird playing, and it fades out...then the intro drums of Nickelback come in and everything picks up (don't for one second think I'm indicating that Nickelback are superior to Lynyrd Skynyrd. - That's crazy talk). Around the table their heads start bopping to the beat, more movement around the place, it picks the night up. Nobody bops their head to bad music now, do they?
As for the image, style, attitude and what not, those days are gone, so you can't expect Nickelback to be like that. Plus it's about time a rock band didn't look like they were continuesly drunk. Smartly dressed guys with a nice smile, where's the harm?
Like you said, if the music's good, it's good. You don't need an image to back your sound up. _________________

you're right, i'd be surprised.
as for me, after Free Bird i would go with some Zepp, maybe When The Levee Breaks, coz it's got this badass drums intro. but i'm drifting away.
i don't expect every band to be the same style, god forbid, this'd be boring as shit. what i do expect is that every band has SOME style, some attitude etc. Nickelback seem to me to be lacking any, they're so... bland, maybe. and unoriginal, yes.
also, smartly dressed with a nice smile? dude, this sounds like a recipe for a boysband, not a heavy rocking band! _________________ i have no time for anal love

The recipe to a boyband is expensive clothes, cheesy smiles, and bad hair cuts. Excluding the new Backstreet Boys video. They look funky in that.
I've just came in from work so I can't be arsed to do a full blown reply, so that's all you're getting I'm afraid. _________________

that's okay. i'm not feeling like writing anything thoughtful today either.
except maybe, that if you mean the video i which they parody your regular 80's hair-metal band, then i agree. surprisingly, this video IS actually cool. _________________ i have no time for anal love
