Just to disturb Munan (and additionally, because I find people's literary tastes quite interesting) I decided to dig up this old thread. I'm reading a couple of things: 'Speaker for the Dead' by Orson Scott Card, 'Cosmos' by Carl Sagan, and I'm finishing 'Thud' by Terry Pratchett. Thinking about it I'm also reading the 'Batman: Hush Returns' trade paperback. _________________

The Conquest of the Soul: Confession, Discipline, and Public Order in Counter-Reformation Milan by Wieste de Boer, The Spiritual Meadow by John Moschos, and other stuff for school. Not a lot of reading for fun. Though, some of the de Boer is interesting. It's, as the title says, looking at how the sacrament of confession was used as a means of social order and problems associated with it (e.g. how effective can this be if confession is a private sacrament and there's little way to know what problems are talked about when people confess, etc.). If any of that makes sense. _________________ "Yeast devil! Back to the oven that baked you!" |

I have a nasty habit of reading several books at a time. This makes for interesting dreams.
Currently I'm trying to wallow through R.A. Salvatore's The Silent Blade, Chuck Palahniuk's Survivor, Douglas Adams' Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy and Lemmy - White Line Fever, apparently by Mr. Kilmister himself and Janiss Garza. _________________ bitchez n hose |

a biography of Jack Kerouac and other MA's-related material.
writing an MA's on something is a brilliant way to stop enjoying it.

Where did I say perversion disturbs me?
Actually, I never get this far down in the forum, so I didn't know this thread existed and was about to start one myself, so this saved me the shame of starting an already existing topic.
I'm reading Dante's La Divina Commedia at the moment, Cary's English translation, which is really rather good.
Edit: since I forgot Dante in my other apartment, I'm reading The Nietzsche Reader , a collection of asserted quotes from Nietzsche's works, instead now. But I'll return to Amsterdam on thursday, so then it's back to Dante! _________________ The Justified Ancient of Mu Mu |

"Wolves of the Calla" by Stephen King and
"Why Lincoln matters" by Mario Cuomo

I'm reading currently "Angels and Demons" by Dan Brown. He's the same guy who wrote "The DaVinci Code" Which I will be reading right after this one. I'm also reading a manga called "Deathnote" which is a supernatural/detective type story. I suggest if you do read manga to read this one. Its really good. I'm also reading another manga called Blade of the Immortal which is by far the best manga ever created. The story line is fantastic, the dialogue is memorable, and the artwork is absolutely beautiful...better yet. Here's a link to a site that tells you all about it.

Well, let's see. I'm about to pick up book 8 of The Dresden Files and read that, but since I don't have it yet, I've been filling my time catching up on some comics. Just read trades 1-3 of Exiles. Pretty cool. Especially since I don't need to know a ton of Marvel continuity to understand it.
I also just bought the new Nightside book by Simon R. Green, but I'm saving that for my vacation to Florida. Oh, and I picked up (finally) book 5 of the Dark Tower series (6 and 7 to be purchased soon), but I'm gonna have to reread books 1-4 to remember what the hell happened. _________________ "SUPERMAN HATES MILK WITH THE FIERY INTENSITY OF A THOUSAND SUNS!"

Dude, it's Lemmy. He could take a shit between the pages of a cook book and you'd still have to buy it.
But yeah, I highly recommend getting it. Lots of interesting stuff, such as the origin of the name 'Lemmy'. _________________ bitchez n hose |

| Right now it's Eldest (again)... I just like that one... And HP & HBP. Didn't even start it yet though. Plus, don't laugh, but I'm reading a Calvin & Hobbes collection book over and over again... |
