Since we've got 'what's on your playlist' and 'fave tv show/character' and the like on other boards, I figured I'd start a similar topic for books.

What's everyone reading these days?

I'm about to finish 'Make Love!* *The Bruce Campbell Way'. It's hysterical.

Then I'm torn, but I'll probably start rereading The Dresden Files series by Jim Butcher. The 7th book is out in hardback, and the Sci-Fi channel is apparently trying to turn it into a TV series (a 2-hour movie/pilot is being filmed anyway), so I'm gonna brush up a bit.

If not Dresden, then I'll probably try to find the books I'm missing in Simon R. Green's Deathstalker series and read those. Or maybe some of Green's other stuff.

I'm rereading Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov and two plays by Aristophanes (Lysistrata, Ecclesiazusae).

Here are books that I'm reading for classes right now:
Tacitus--Annales, Agricola
Euripides--Medea
Anna Nikolaevna Bek--The Life of a Russian Woman Doctor: A Siberian Memoir, 1869-1954

I'm surprised my head hasn't asploded yet.

Lately I've been going through the REA GRE math book to freshen up on some stuff. When I read for pleasure, it's almost invariably Forgotten Realms novels.

That's one I'm definitely going to have to read soon.

Ech. I hope it turns out better than Earthsea did, but that's a vain hope, I'm sure.

Right now I'm reading "Forever Peace" by Joe Haldeman. It's taking forever because it's really intense, and I keep having to put it down and step away from it because I'm getting too worked up. After that it's "Old Twentieth", Haldeman's newest one. I've read a little of the first chapter, and it's already got me hooked, although I'm trying to finish the other one first.

I tend to lean towards non-fiction, except when it comes to certain subjects like the occasional AVP/Predator novel and sometimes a Stephen King novel. That short story collection of his that had "Ride The Bullet" was one of his best, I have the urge to read that again.

But I am currently diving my nerdy nose into Vogue Knitting, Sushi for Dummies and that AVP movie book I got in the mail a month ago. Very excellent read and great reference material for drawing.

Just finished Anansi Boys, by Neil Gaiman. I really enjoyed it. When I can be bothered, I'll get into Seven Ancient Wonders, by Matthew Reilly.

Ooh! Reilly has a new book!?!? I gotta go find that! And I gotta rebuy all the ones I lost when my ex moved out. I got to keep 'Scarecrow' in hardback, at least.

S2...have you ever seen the movie version of Riding the Bullet? It's surprisingly not bad. Done by the same guy who's made all of the better film adaptations of King's stuff.

I'm reading "Dune Bloodlines-House Atreides" by Brian Herbert and Kevin Anderson. Ahh, you can't miss with Dune (unless it's a game).

I wish I did! I have heard about it, it was on the USA network at one time but I missed it. I'll have to see if some nice soul ripped it and offered it up on a torrent somewheres...

But the book it was in was great as well. The first story was awesome, I couldn't put the book down and I almost died at the ending. Don't want to give away any details for those who haven't read it ^_~...I need to buy that book again, it needs to be in my library once more.

Yeah, came out in October (usually I get his books as soon as they come out, but I came down with a bad case of having no money). It's retitled Seven Deadly Wonders in America - though come to think of it I'm not 100% sure it's been released there yet.

Well, right now I don't really have any clue actually as to what he is referring... I mean, if he's referring to magazines with erotic contents, I only have one Playboy which my sister bought me for my 17th birthday...

And I'm pretty sure the first part of that previous sentence is grammatically FUBAR-ized... ooh Ipsa!!!
