Hey. Obviously we all want bigger, better, faster aLp, but right now I'm doing the best I can considering all the crazy babies swarming my house. But I was just wondering how you guys felt about the old 3-panel strips versus the new longer (mostly 9-panel) ones. I like doing the new ones better cuz I like the exploring I get to do but it's entirely possible that some of you like the ADD quality of the old 3-panel gags.
So which of these hypothetical situations would you prefer? Shorter strips 2x/week or the way it is now, longer pages 1x/week? Hypothetically hypothetical. And since you can vote anonymously, you won't have to worry about hurting my feelings by liking the old comics better.
Thanks,
B |

I like both. Maybe a buncha short ones with a long one thrown in on occasion, like in newspaper strips _________________ "You have to quote from books to look clever. You can't quote from films. If you quote from films you just look like a geek." |

I echo BaconNEggs. I like them both. I think a healthy balance would be to alternate. A long one on monday one week, then two short ones monday and wednesday the next week, or something like that. Best of both worlds. _________________ The depressing thing about tennis is that no matter how good I get, I'll never be as good as a wall.

| There seems to be a lot of me-toos around here... I'm afraid I have to join the consensus on this one. |

I do really like both. I lean a little more towards the longer ones, though--I like seeing the development with each panel and the growing "Dear God, what did Abe do now?" feeling. There's a clearer development into absurdity. With this past strip, I nearly died when I scrolled down to read the last three panels and saw a baby affixed to Preston's arm. That sort of surprise can be harder to pull off in shorter strips, I think. The shorter strips seem to be better at leaving one in suspense of what will happen next time if there's any sort of plot being followed (e.g., "What will happen between Preston and Corinna?"). _________________ "Yeast devil! Sorry, but I'm gonna have to join everyone on the fence. Choosing would be like comparing the blink and you miss it sight gags in Futurama and the 'slow building, payoff at the end' style of Seinfeld. Short strips work well when you've got a quickfire gag. The longer strips suit the more detailed, layered humour. I guess this post is pretty useless, but might I suggest you add a third option to the poll: Bernie should do whatever he thinks is best because 3 panels or 9, aLp always raises a smile and a laugh. The current strip requires the nine panels to get the joke across, but the legendary 'Please Swipe Again' worked because it was short and punchy. _________________

do both, B. keep on with the long strips, but throw in a short one once in a while as a cookie for all of us or something. _________________ Certified Evil Bastard. Serving your cuppa at Starbucks Terminal One Arrival Hall, Singapore. The one who started Premium Evil's tea. |

Yeah, either way they're both very funny. Will Jesus be coming back, or maybe make guest appearances and he could cure Preston's sight and fix his arm. _________________ What...the hell...are yooouuu? |

True that. Short comics are all well and good but nothing beats a slow built exceptional joke. _________________
