but seriously the Elite and the Pred are equaly matched, both have strength unfathomable for a man to have and they are both smarter than the average Ape. I don't remember the Elites having a caste system, acording to the story there is nothing even close to that if you mean by them having the color cooridnated rank sysytem. Still no.
I feel I need to say more... oh well. |
Elites do have a caste system which is synonimous with thier rank system. Each rank is based on the number of kills they have attained. A gold elite would have killed thousands of enemies personally while a blue elite may have killed just a few dozen or so.
But seriously, a Pred has a much better stealth advantage. Cloaking is more perfect and they don't yell like idiots when they see baddies. _________________

Stealth wise I agree, I'm still not sure about the caste system dealie.
Off to the history books I say!
Maybe the yelling thing is a religous initiation of battle? _________________ "Smile you son of a bitch!" - Jaws |

Predators are solitary hunters, so I think if they were pitted one-on-one against an elite they'd probably beat them... But then, what the hell do I know? They're both fictional, so this is all speculation anyway... right? RIGHT??

Elites and Preds would never join forces. They are both way too different.

Both species' organizational systems are built around castes. Killing enemies is a way of garnering reputation and social power. Very similiar wapons and technology. Almost fanatical reverence for thier concepts of 'honor', which is very similiar in definition. By all means a Sangheili and Yautja could make great friends.
If the situation called for it, I believe any organization of Elites would find it in mutual benefit if they should join in a military alliance with the Yautja to combat a common threat, and vice versa. However they have little to gain from such an alliance other than numbers beause they are so similiar in combat. _________________

Those are some shrewd and salient points there Simon. Of course the Yautja would have to convert ( either willingly, or by the plasma sword ) for the Covies to consider them allies.

Not neccesarily. I believe the Elites, Grunts, and Hunters rebelled against the rest of the Covenant, and made alliance with the humans. Converting the other species is preffered, but if the situation really demands for it, any two neutral parties will ally for a common cause.
However your point puts to light that religion is very different between the two species, and there may be a little theology issue if both parties have noone to fight but each other. It could turn out like the Crusades, or they may just make a few budhist-gettin-a-hotdog jokes. _________________

Interesting idea, there's certainly evidence to support the theory that some of the Sangheili have doubts about their 'faith'. The novels and the second game also make it pretty clear that the Prophets ( like most religious leaders ) are only interested in power and control. Given the likely schism between the Elites and the rest of Covenant society that will result from Halo 2's events it is not impossible that some Elites would revolt against their masters. There's nothing like betrayal to make you rethink your philosophy after all. You'd have to come up with a pretty contrived reason for them to ally though. _________________

hmmm.... elites seem to have better weapons, and are less aggrivated therfore becoming clouded with rage, basicly, its going to come down to who i'd make love to..so given the choice between a predator..and an elite..hmmmmm....elites seem like the quiet refined type, and predators seem like they'd be crazy mad in bed..so Im gonna go with the predators. _________________ it's just the mark of shame |
