Bernie, I love your strips about the Yanks. I'm also loving the beating the Yanks are putting on the sox (right now they're up 4-3 in the 6th, game 4)! I hope you do a strip on this when the sweep is over.
GO YANKS

| Ah well, the Sox got one. Fun to watch, at least. Give 'em credit. We didn't want it to be over THAT fast, right? And Pedro needs another chance to do something stupid in a Red Sox uniform. |

| If the Yanks blow game 7, Bern, you should submit comic #4 to the Daily News and see if they'll put it in the paper. |

| If the Yanks blow Game 7, I'll be in the Daily News for another reason, for like strangling that ugly fucker David Ortiz. |

I'll be up at the Stadium tonight to catch the game at a bar, probably the YT, you're all welcome to join me and my g/f! I think depending on how the game goes, I'll be either proposing to her or leaving her..

Congrats to the Red Sox, but baseball no longer is baseball. Yeah, I guess my front page post summed it up.

For someone who now professes the Milwaukee Brewers as his favorite team, you sure seem unhappy, Bern.
As I said last night, the curse isn't over until the Red Sox win the Series. Otherwise it would have been over in 1946, 1967, 1975 or 1986. |

True dat, Stu. That's why I was so upset with the NY Post this morning: "Sox lift Curse.."? Geez, anything to sell papers in this city. |

Reading this thread gave me a warm feeling in my heart.
I think you're selling the Yankees short with that "baseball is no longer baseball" stuff. They didn't win all those years because they were destined to via some cosmic nonsense. They won because they had a talented team, they played really well, and sometimes got a little lucky - in other words, they achieved it. But that means, other years they might not be so talented, or might not be so lucky.
The idea that a sport is somehow better if you can apply the same tired storyline to it every season is mystifying to me. The reason I like baseball is precisely because you never quite know. As was so perfectly fucking illustrated.
Yeah, and "ugly fucker"? Ortizzle is a huge freaking teddy bear, buddy. Who just happens to be able to bring a world of pain. I imagine Yankee fans cry out in their sleep when they see him spit in his hands and then pound them together. Them, and Jarrod Washburn. |

There is. We just don't shove it in people's faces. Although beating up the Big Unit was fun last week. If Dae-Sung Koo can rocket a double against him, maybe he should retire. |

Don't forget scoring from second on a bunt. Dae-Sung Koo is now one of my all-time heroes. |

| Yeah, I don't think anyone there at the stadium (including myself, 25 Yankees and 24 Mets, and maybe even the 4 umpires) thought he would try to score either. |

Any of you watch Lost? That one guy's dad: "That's why the Red Sox'll never win the World Series" was his expression of "destiny will screw you, my son." I fell off my bed laughing. By the way, this aired after that parade in Boston. _________________

I don't really care about baseball (how unAmerican of me!), but I did grow up in Texas, so...
Go Astros!
