My friend and I worked very hard on our Aspic platter at Culinary School, and we got the highest grade in the class, but everyone elses looked like crap, and they got only a few points lower than us, so why did we work so hard on ours!?

I started to get sad when I thought about the homework I have to do. But, I'm the one who had to do graduate studies. Then I got sad because the doctor's office didn't have me on the schedule for today.
And then I saw a dead puppy.
No, not really. i didn't see a dead puppy. But part of my homework does make me sad (it's reading a book comparing Russian serfdom and American slavery) and the doctor's office did forget about me (which made me sad because I made the appointment two weeks ago; I only wanted a physical since I'm new to the area and the school; I don't want to be some sort of carrier of something or other. You know what I mean).
