You'd have to live close to the german border, though, to appreciate the joke.

Or maybe if you'd watch a lot of Bayern porn movies.

You mean snikkel is not that widely used in the Randstad?

How about the word "murf"... my almost ex-girlfriend comes from Leiden and yesterday she used the word "murf"... 150.000 points for the one who guesses what it means.

I have no idea what snickel or murf mean but I find I must now try to use them in a sentence.

"The murf went to see his friend and tried to snikel some money."

Nah, way off, I'm sure. But I still love those words.

Nope. Zeut is flemish and is used for a very annoying, but boring person.

So to weird you guys out in a funnier way I will tell you of a strange dream I had when i was in high school.
*edit* Writing my school essay bassed off this here post. Under consrtuction.

Life is But a Dream Within a Dream
A wise person once wrote, "Beauty is in the eye of teh beholder." The same can be said for reality. Sometimes it is the the things that we know not to be that effect us the most. If you don't believe it just ask any person with a phobia. The same can said for dreams. Even though they take place in our heads the events that unfold can have more of an effect on us then say, falling over mutiple times on our bicycle when we get our training wheels off. This is very true for me. I can remeber one dream inperticular. It stays as vivid as some of my most cherished childhood memories.
It begins in a highway construction zone. My buddy, Billy, my 8th grade homeroom, and I are playing there waiting for a bus to take us on a school trip. Billy was an old friend of mine. The only black kid in my grade, his smile was very much like mine back then. It told you all you needed to know about both of us. It said let's throw caution to the wind and have fun doing it. About the same height as me and evry other kindergardener, he would be well over six feet by high school. His hair was jet black and super cury. The kind that looks nest buzzed or cropped. When we first met his hair was buzzed short and had lighting bolts shaved in to the sides of his head. It was outside the Kindergarten bus that we first met, Billy being one of the P.M. kids and me one of the A.M. kids. While he waited for school to start and I waited for the busses to let us on we would talked about all the things that would amuse us. Billy was a fan of collecting various creatures at the pond by our homes and I would always want to go with him on his adventures. That summer we spent every second we could together. As we grew older the pond became are perfect meeting place. It was about halfway between his house and mine. Positioned at the bottom of a wooded valley, we had cover from houses and the occasional car that passed by on the near by road. It couldn't have been more that 4 or five acres but we called it "The Forest." Many fond memories were had down there. In the summer, we would chase frogs, play pirates on a tree that hung over the pond, or go on explorations to the deepest parts of The Forest. In the winter, the cover became very limited so we generally kept away from it and played at the park closer to Billy's house. We would build snowmen and have snow ball fights of a grand scale. the baseball field that was in the park offered ample space and snow. Each side would erect snow walls where we would hide are snowballs and go for saftey. When the fight began we would hold as many as we could in one arm and run out into the open at let fly our arsenal trying to dodge any swnowball thrown our way. Only to run back for a breather and more snowballs. We had a lake across from the pond to go skating on, and the pond never got thick enough to play on, as I found out one day. One of my winter boots still rests somewhere in the thick muddy bottom that was just below the thin ice. I just hope a frog has made it their happy hibernation hole as it sleeps in that thick muddy bed below the water. Unfortunately, by the fifth grade Billy and I had pretty much stopped being friends. Partly because of Billy's family situation and partly because of that fading out that even the best of friends have a tendency to do.
So to see him here, playing in the dirt, with me was a bit strange, but I let it slide since we were having so much fun. Plus, there was the school trip to think about, something that we were all very excited about. When the bus came we all let out a cry of excitement that only children can belt. I started to dust myself off when Billy turned around. A second later he was tugging at my shirt. I turned around and stood there in shock. No one was there. Our classmates and the buss just disappeared, in less than 5 seconds. Leaving us on a road surrounded by prairie and these old Victorian mansions, just like the kind you see it the old ritzy part of town.
A little scared, we walked down the road, noticing that no one is around. It's all too quiet. With no one outside, we went up to one of the biggest mansions, a huge red brick building with a tall white door. The front of the house was lined with two stories of very nice looking windows. On the door was an old abstract looking knocker centered perfectly in the middle. We knocked and listened as the sound echoed into unknown territory. The door opened just a second later. An old butler in his tux and gloves stood behind the, now ajar, door. Behind him was the most amazing entryway that you could have seen. Oak floors lead you to this massive grand staircase that seemed to wrap around the whole room, leading off into unknown rooms of grandeur. The walls were plaster white with lovely paintings on them. Of course all this was lighted by a chandelier that belonged in a museum. Made of Crystal and gold, the whole thing must have weight easily 300 lbs. In awe we just stared at this huge room. Could people actually live in such a place? Patiently the butler waited, with a slight grin on his face. When the proper time came he asked what services he could assist us with. We told him of our class’s disappearance and how we were lost. The butler went into a grandpa like fret about our situation. He told us that he will contact the police and have them sent here to help right away. While we wait, he added, we should go have a dip in the pool.
With the butterflies, we once had all gone, Billy and I run to pool, throwing caution to the wind. The pool area is as huge as the entryway and is made of what looks like white marble. Black iron fences surround the perimeter, giving it a very nice old look. On the count of three we cannonball in, the water the perfect temperature.
Billy started to swim around and I stayed underwater enjoying the wetness. When I came up for air the happiest feeling passed over me. Peace. With this feeling came the memory of so many times swimming in the lake across from my house. Her name was Spring Lake and she was almost perfectly round. Big enough to land a pontoon plane on and also have VFW boat parades, I loved that lake. She was not a sandy bottom lake; she had many rocks ranging in sizes waiting to toughen up your feet or to clunk your head against if you dove to deep. Algae made the water look a bit murky green when you got close, but we didn't care. We had heard the stuff was good for your hair anyway. My friends and I would often go to Ronny and Paul's house to ask if we could use their dock. They were known to have the best dock in our neighborhood and also were the nicest couple you could have ever met. Both were retired and seemed to have a never ending amount of love for everyone. It was shown too, with they hosted our neighborhood block party at the end of spring. With their permission we would tear down the trail that lead down to the dock. Your standard wood planks and steel rods to keep the wood above water level went about 20 feet out and at the end the dock spread out in a great platform about 8 feet by 4 feet. Spring Lake seemed eternally cold so there was no point in trying to warm up to the lake. The best approach was to run to end of the dock and either dive or cannonball in. Cannonballing in being the best choice, because of the rocks and towards the middle to end of summer the water could get kind of low. Nothing was worse than scraping your chest against the bottom or, god forbid, clunking your head. After that first jump and the shock of cold, the water was fine. Anything that you could do in a lake we did, noodle fights, swimming to see who could swim the farthest, and just enjoying the sun talking were not uncommon. Hours would fly by until one parent would call up Ronny or Paul and ask to have their son to come home. Then one of them would come down and inform us that so and so had to go home. It was kind of our unwritten signal to go home. We all had dinner at roughly the same time, so we would pack up and head to our respective homes where our mothers would be waiting with dinner and Aloe Vera for the almost certain burns after dinner dishes. It was our opinion that sun block was for pansies.
After about ten minutes, the butler came out with some other folks. Thinking it was the police we turned around. Our jaws dropped in shock at what we saw. Everyone creeping towards us was a zombie. Billy yelled that we need to get out of here. We took off through the gate in the fence and down the street. Running as fast as our legs can take us.
The zombies take chase. More and more coming out with every mansion we pass, following us in their torn up high class clothing. Some are running, and some are driving pink convertible Cadilacs, the top down and an eternal grin on their face. What made the terror worse was that they never over took us. They always stayed a ways back, like they had all the time in the world. It paid off for them, too. At one point Billy tripped, and was swallowed up by the zombie mob. My heart sank; I had just lost my friend for a second time. There was nothing I could do either, I had to keep running and that is exactly what I did.
Just like when I was going to sleep over at Billy's house long ago. I had run that night so afraid and just wanting to be home. The night had started out great, too. Billy's house was full of a great warm feeling. Like being wrapped up in an electeric blanket. Bill, Billy's dad, was home, and all us were rough housing in the living room. Giggles and laughs filled the house, along with many thuds on the first level floor. It was the thudding that I think set the events off. Hattie, Billy's mom, had come up from the basement and was telling us that we needed to stop. All of us in the living room were pleading our case for the fun to continue. Even Bill was heard saying, “Please Mom. Can't we play a little more?" After that things started to get colder. Hattie was pretty agitated by all of us and had a way of emanating her feelings. We soon stopped and went on to play other things. Nintendo was a popular choice or Billy also had this awesome wooden train set in the basement. Bill didn't join us, he stayed upstairs and spent some time with Hattie. Eventually bed time came and we were all corralled up to the second level of the house where the bedrooms were. It was a very simple level. To the right was Billy and Sammy's, Billy's younger brother, room and behind it was Elizabeth’s, Billy's elder sister. Then to the left was Bill and Hattie's bedroom, and in front of their room was the bathroom. All of this was connected by a very rectangular space that led to the stairs. Somehow Bill and Hattie got all of us tucked to bed. Billy and I of course were no where near sleepy so we were talking about the day, but at least we were staying in bed. Hattie and Bill soon retired to bed so we knew no one was going to shout at us. We had just started to unwind in our beds, when Billy had to go to the bathroom. When he opened the door, the sound of and argument was coming from the grown up's room. Billy didn't seem to mind it and went to the bathroom. I on the other hand found it scary. My parents always had these all out screaming matches when they fought. This fight was different. Their voices were raised but not screaming. The word's that were spoken were well placed jabs at the other. It was like they were almost boxers in a ring dancing around each other. Each taking pop shot at the other, while never once going for the K.O. I was very scared and Billy was taking his sweet time on the john. Finally I couldn't take it. I slipped out the door and silently went down the stairs to the entry way. I put on my shoes and ran to my house. Not wanting any of it. I ran down the driveway and onto the hilly Spruce Street. When I hit the bottom of the hill I ran a T stop and turned left. This was Sunset Trail, my street. I ran past the pond and it's wooded forest on my left and Spring Lake on my right. As I ran up another hill my house was closse at hand, I felt the terror passing. When I saw my house tears started welling in my eyes. As I opened the door I was crying. Fear, excitement, happiness were mixing in me and I couldn't help it. I ran straight to my mom who was working late. With my arms latched firmly around her I cried out all of my emotions. My mom was clearly concerned when she saw me. After I calmed down and told her everything. She called up the Robinson's and told them what had happened and that I would be sleeping in my own bed tonight.
Still running and feeling like my lungs were about to burst, I hit a town. New energy ran through me as my hope grew. Then as I ran on to the main street of the town, my hope evaporated. Pouring out of the buildings are more zombies. The chase resumed a new. With what energy I had I ran towards an alleyway. As soon as I turned into it I realized that I have made a fatal error, the alleyway would become my coffin, the way out being cover by a mountain of putrid garbage. Laughter came from behind me, an eerie, all knowing laugh. I turned around, expecting the worst. All the zombies are there, the butler, his gang, the town folk, and Billy, back from the dead and just as hungry as the rest. With the headlights of the caddies shining bright behind them they advance. There was nothing I could do, no place to hide. This was it. I dropped to my knees and gave up. But, then, from the distance, came a sound. Barely audible at first, but it soon grew very audible. It was music! I looked up at the rag tag zombie mob and they were starting to dance. That's when I noticed that I, too, had started to dance and had changed. I was wearing a red pleather jacket with back stripes on the shoulders, black leather dress shoes, and some ball bustingly tight red 80's jeans. As the music became louder we all began to dance in like a well choreographed team. It hit me at that moment what we were dancing to. Yup, it was Michael Jackson's "Thriller."
At that moment of realization I woke up. I was alive and not in trouble. There were no zombies anywhere and, thankfully, I was not wearing those tight ass jeans. I was in my bed with my favorite lake across the street and Billy alive. A slight pang hit my heart, if I was in the real world that meant that I was no longer friends with Billy. Hell, we weren't even in the same school district anymore. I looked over at my alarm clock and realized that I had better go back to sleep. It was only 4:00 in the morning and I had one hell of a German final to take at school the next day, today, whatever. I rolled over and closed my eyes and tried to relax, while my brain kept thinking about the dream. Over and over it played in my head, until I had finally drifted off into the depth of sleep.
Ever since then, that dream has stayed as one of my most viberant and strangest dreams of my life. I've had many strange dreams since then, but I shall always remember this one the best. To this day it brings different feelings out of me. When I awoke and realized that it was a dream, I felt a bit scared and a lot confused. My brain kept saying, "What in the world did that mean?" To this day I still have no clue. Now I look back fondly back at it wishing I could dream it once again. Just as much as I wish I could relive my by gone days of childhood.

HAHAHAHAHAHA Finally done!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
