I'm a bit late, i guess, but I'll say it anyway.

R.I.P., James Doohan.

My first crush is gone. I cried.

This made me smile again.

That is indeed sad news. The article was brilliant and moving. Thanks, Desert.

"Relics" just came on Spike TV. It's such a nostalgic episode, it made me a little weepy. And I'm about to watch "Trials and Tribble-lations", the DS9 episode. What a night.

I have to say I never was a big fan of the original series, but it was so legendary that I hardly had to wach it to know all the characters, and Scotty was one of the ones that stood out the most. James will be missed.

Me and a friend have this joke, it goes like this:

Me: Beam me up Scotty!

Other: Up Scotty's what!?!

That joke will never be the same again.

I sat up and watched those, too. Hell, "Relics" made me weepy before; I was a mess this time.

I was (and hell, still am) a huge fan of the original series, and have had very little interest in the ones that followed; there's a kind of hopefulness about it all that I don't think anything made now (ST or otherwise) can manage, and as I got older, I was able to appreciate the way stock characters were gradually given individuality by the people playing them.
