Who's famous from where you're from?

Unfortunately, I don't really think there are much famous people from Enschede... too bad... well, I'm ofcourse going to be famous, but that's a whole other story...

I'm originally from Zwolle and that's the birthplace of Herman Brood - famous dutch rocker, friend of Bono, the first subject of world famous celebrity photographer Anton Corbijn.

Also, in Reykjavik, I went to the same high school as Bjork, (world famous) Icelandic singer went to, but because she's much older than me, we weren't there at the same time.

Liam Neeson sends his son to the summer camp at which I will be working in a week... in fact, I'm going to be his son's camp counselor. Crazy.

Also, Glenn Close, James Earl Jones, and Ethan Hawke have houses in Dutchess County, the county in which I live.

Edit: I reread the first post. No one famous GREW UP, where I live (poughkeepsie), per say. Just quite a few famous actors live nearby.

A bunch of pretty famous to very famous people came from where I was born. My closest brush with fame was attending a summer program for gifted and talented kids for 4 years with Harry Connick, Jr.

I live in a pretty small town in the Monterey Bay area in California, and there are a few famous people from my county and close by. The author John Steinbeck lived in Salinas and set many of his novels there and in Monterey, such as Of Mice And Men, The Grapes Of Wrath, and Cannery Row. Marilyn Monroe grew up in Castroville, just about twenty miles away from my town. Castroville also happens to be the Artichoke Capital Of The World. Clint Eastwood hangs out in Pacific Grove and comes to play golf every year in the PGA tour. And for awhile we had the only Great White shark in captivity at the Monterey Bay Aquarium (which was where they filmed Star Trek IV).

We also have the oldest pub in Britain (or anywhere else), the english civil war started in Nottingham and the first knitting machine was invtented here.

But i grew up in New York, we have Sleepy Hollow, and Wilford Brimley.
And i went to college in Potsdam, NY, where the real Elm Street is.

Nobody from my town, but a few people from my state. Like the singer Jewel, she's from Homer, I think. And Brock from 36 Crazy Fist. A few extreme winter sport people, and that one band, um.... Nothing Less. Yeah, they're all from Wasilla. Oh, and my personal favorite. Scotty Gomez, from Anchorage Alaska!! Except that he got traded for this hockey season, Crying or Very sad

that's okay, we've still got Joe Talbot! Yeah. OH, sorry, shutting up about Hockey.

Well, overhere the weather is sometimes crappy... and the people... it really sucks that my three best friends are all on vacation... come to think of it, you're closer to two of them then I am. One of them is in America, and the other is in Canada...
