i may be of the genus-species Homo-sapien but humans are defined by belonging to humanity
Humanity follows mass-marketing brainwashing and never stops to question the significance of its actions. Just to be, anybody can do that with food, water. How you live, the actions and choices that you make, that is something else.

In the end Jason won hands down. He came out of Crystal Lake fully intact and ready to go. Freddy on the other hand..... (get it?) _________________

I dislike Freddy so much. He one of the few Monsters who actually affects me these days.(i'm 26).
I was in Jasons Corner all the way through.
Liked the movie for what it was.
Some fun fights and Freddys reaction when he can't drop Jason is Great.
The ending had me feel so happy Till that Bastard winked at me. I got no Closure. None atall. _________________

Humanity follows mass-marketing brainwashing and never stops to question the significance of its actions. Just to be, anybody can do that with food, water. How you live, the actions and choices that you make, that is something else. |
Main Entry: 2human
Function: noun
: a bipedal primate mammal (Homo sapiens) : MAN; broadly : any living or extinct member of the family (Hominidae) to which the primate belongs
Humanity is defined as pertaining to human beings, not necessarily the other way around, as you have defined it to be. Humanity has different meanings: being humane, as a plural it can refer to learning (e.g., a masters in the humanities), or it can refer to mankind in general, more specifically, what makes a human human. Some humans do give in to "mass-marketing brainwashing," but would you say that they are not human because they choose to do so? Maybe those people are still in their potentiality stages; they have not yet achieved their full actuality.
If you believe in Freud, then people don't stop to think about the significance of their actions because their egos are letting the id take over(i.e., they do what they do because they want to do it and think it will be satisfying). Not all actions are significant, nor are they always charged with symbolism. It's not that it's pointless to think about what you're doing in your life (I think that personal reflection is a good thing), it's a personal choice that each person--human--makes. Having intellect/reason and being able to make choices based on that intellect/reason is one of the large components of being human. It's what separates us from the animals (of the non-human variety).
Maybe Socrates was right about the allegory of the cave...
(Maybe I should have responded to this sooner, but I just now started to watch this topic. Sorry about this post being all jumbled and dealing with philosophy. I wish I had an OED. Carry on with whatever.) _________________ "Yeast devil! Back to the oven that baked you!" |

It was sort of a tie. Jason decapitates Freddy, but Freddy can't freaking die! as his head is so kind enough to let us know by winking in the general direction. _________________ "If I say get me a large hazlenut coffee with no sucky undertaste, you say "Yes sir." and do it!

Jason won in the case of fighting.
They both lost in the fact that they suck. _________________

Ha!
Anyway, I'd assume the writers/directors didn't want to outright state that Jason was better than Freddy, or vice versa, cause that just would've pissed off half the audience. Hence, it was a tie. |

| Neither won. It was a delibrate plot thing as you discover when you listen to the Filmmaker's Commentary on the FVJ dvd. Fans of Jason would bay for the director's blood if Freddy won. And vice versa. The winner of the battle was left open for discussion and that is that. But there so totally needs to be a sequel. |
