The similarities between the Alien and Metroid franchises

I, being an avid gamer, have noticed some major similarities between Nintendo's Metroid franchise and Alien.

First: Both franchise use a strong, ass kicking heroine. Metroid has the bounty hunter Samus and Alien has Ripley.

Second: An alien threat. There are Metroids in Metroid and Aliens in Alien. Kind of obvious.

Third: Corrupt Governments/Corporations. What the Galactic Federation does to Samus in Metroid Fusion is the same as what Weyland-Yutani does to Ripley in Aliens. Both are sent thinking that she's going to destroy a threat when actually they want the heroine to protect it so they can use it for a weapon.

Fourth: Marines.

Sure, it's not as strong as the resemblance to Starcraft, but it's enough. (I actually wrote a fanfic based on these similarities that got put onto planetavp.com). So has anybody else ever noticed this?

You can actually notice a ton of similarities in stuff...

Jurassic Park: the car gets pushed over the edge by the T-Rex
Jurassic Park 2: the trailer gets pushed over the edge by the T-Rex (sort of)
