I'm still in the building; I just left the room.
And to answer Bernie's question... you'll just have to guess. |

| But two-dimensional? What are we, in the Phantom Toolbooth? Anyway, maybe I didn't explain it very clearly, but my point was that The Wonder Years really sucked. |

Your point was that The Wonder Years sucked? Wasn't your post about The Transformers and Multiplicity? I think this thread may have finally jumped the shark.
And anyway, lots of interesting dynamics are two-dimensional. Any time your degrees of freedom are confined to a surface you can neglect the third dimension. Also if the system is translationally invariant in the third direction, same thing. The quantum Hall effect and high-Tc superconductivity are both related to two-dimensional dynamics, just to name the two most important problems in the last twenty years in the field.
Not that I know anything about that stuff, of course. But I was impressed with Winnie. To get back on the topic, maybe Lindsay Lohan secretly has a passion for actuarial tables? |

And if you look really carefully it gives her email address at the bottom of the first page. Although it's probably out of date by now. |

A quick aside: If you eliminate the math part of the internet address, you will find yourself on the official Danica McKellar home page.
OK, getting back to the topic at hand. I'm pretty sure Lindsay has no idea what is an actuarial table. However, if I explained that I can predict that she'll live longer than Hilary Duff by using actuarial tables, or she'll have a better pension benefit, she might appreciate it (and by extension, appreciate me). |

There you go.
And here's a good opening line for Natalie: "Hey, baby. I'm the droid you've been looking for."
Now you're prepared for any eventuality. |

As long as I don't go "Mee-sa person you lookin' for". She might go anti-Jar-Jar on me.
Or I could just say "Congratulations on your Best Supporting Actress nomination for Closer". At the very worst, I'm bound to get a thanks out of that. |

Well in lieu of Dean's expert advise on badboyification you could try the help of those wonderfull fellows (?) at AskMen.com.
With regards to how to be a bad boy they have many fine suggestions. Like "often uses women for sex". I'm not sure what else the site you suggests you use women for, or for that matter what else you should use for sex, but it all sounds terribly chauvinistic to me.[/url] |

The last sentence of that article reads:
| Quote: | | Even if you don't look like Brad Pitt, you can still attract lots of women simply by oozing male confidence. |
Thanks for takin' us around full circle, Zak!
Yeah, it's all chauvinistic, but it's also true in a lot of ways. Stu, you could stand to be more of an asshole. When you go to push in a woman's chair, pull it right out from under her instead! |

| Well, we have female readers of this forum. Ladies, I ask you the following: should I follow Bernie's advice and be "more of an asshole" if it will help ooze male confidence? |

Stu, just as long as you're not oozing other substances.
Confidence is definitely sexy, as they say. But you can be confident without being an asshole. I guess it's a fine line. My last boyfriend walked that line well, only he walked it drunk a little too often.

Geez, I forgot I had still had a fantasy life. My real one was occupying too much of my time.
Thanks, but I just can't see my self acting the asshole part. It just goes against my nature, and I'm too old to suddenly change my ways (unless we're talking road rage). I'll take my confidence without the horrible attitude. |

Yeah, I think jennif nails it here. People of all genders are intrigued by people who are confident. It's true that some women might be into guys who are assholes, but as I have learned, you don't necessarily want to date those people anyway.
But there's a difference between being an asshole and just giving the impression that you are interesting and exciting. I think almost no one wants to date someone whose only selling point is that they can be nice. You need to be nice but also give off the impression that you are worth paying attention to, yourself, and self-confidence is the first signal you send that you are indeed worth that attention. |
