In preparation for SPX next weekend I made minis of my AlphaBeasts drawings. In order to make the X and Y work better as a larger whole drawing I inserted a digital background between them. Very simple, very unlike the rest of the picture. More technical and bare.

It looks kinda like flash animation. It's an interesting design, but the fact that it's so much smoother and simpler than the rest of the drawing really conflicts with the whole thing in general.

I agree. Luckily it's a temporary filler for the mini comics I printed for the Small Press Expo. I will finish it at some point by hand, and it will be sweet.

In case anyone is curious, the good folks who comprise the Alphabet Press are beginning a new weekly collaborative art project. We are drawing AlphaBots!

We'll be doing A-Z of robots, androids, and other intelligent machines. There's a new twist this time though: some artists (such as myself) will be drawing from existing fictional sources while others are allowed to invent their own creations which adhere to a central theme. It's going to open up the creative juice dam for sure!

The site is currently live at AlphaBots but submissions begin Monday, Feb. 4th. If you want to throw down some art, please jump in.

Just as a teaser, my A will be Ash from ALIEN. Booyah!
