^Definitely agree with Real Steel.
I saw Looper a few days ago. Not what I was expecting, but I was still obligated to saying "Holy shit" a few times. Time-traveling aside, it manages to cross even further into fiction while keeping everything grounded and realistic as possible.
I won't say what exactly it was that slightly took Looper through fantasy territory because it's not explicitly mentioned in the marketing (which instead focused on the time-traveling, very little of which actually contributes to the climax).
But I will say that it's much deeper than the typical time-travel or hero-running-away-from-gunshots-and-bad-guys film. Certainly not the best even in this regard and it does have its issues, just like any other movie. But it's really enjoyable and I liked it. I'd give it a 8-9/10. |

Absolutely brilliant.
We went to see Ruby Sparks recently - really good, well worth a watch, if you're into a romantic comedy with a difference. I'm a big fan of Paul Danno also, brilliant here. _________________ Da Fro-mastah of da aLp Forums!

Graffiti Bridge, the 1990 sequel to Purple Rain. Prince wrote and directed this one himself, and God it shows. It's glorious, the cheese practically leaks out from the edges of the screen onto the floor. _________________ i have no time for anal love

Taken 2 wasn't bad. Preference to the first film though, much more gripping. Still an enjoyable watch. _________________ Certified Evil Bastard. Serving your cuppa at Starbucks Terminal One Arrival Hall, Singapore. The one who started Premium Evil's tea. |

I haven't seen it yet, but I have to admit that I like all of these movies where the premise is, more or less, "Liam Neeson goes around and punches things and/or people." _________________ "Yeast devil! Back to the oven that baked you!" |

Saw Skyfall yesterday. It was pretty good. It definitely took the Bond franchise to new places. _________________ Context is everything. |

The Thing remake sequel prequel thingy (see what I did there? ).
I thought it was nice, but then again... I never saw the original. Which I definitely will one of these days now I've seen this one. _________________

^I liked the prequel because it ties in so nicely to the original, but then again, I think I only really appreciated all of the callbacks (callforwards?) because I saw the original first, which might be the case with just about everyone else.
I also saw Skyfall. I was really impressed by it. Spoiler: | For the entire movie you're craving the old theme to pop back up after the first tease of a chord at the very beginning of the film, and when it does eventually come back, it does so right at the height of your hunger and appropriately so, and for that I've got to hand it to them - that pacing/editing was really well done. The same goes for the traditional gun barrel at the end. |

I liked it, to...! Finally saw it a couple of weeks ago.
Now I just need to make time for "The Hobbit". _________________ "Yeast devil! Back to the oven that baked you!" |

Saw The Hobbit the other night. Absolutely loved it. Sure, people are saying it's too long, doesn't have enough pace, wasn't true enough to the book, blah blah. For my part, I thought it looked gorgeous, clipped along nicely and had some great performances and set pieces. Although not enough singing. Martin Freeman was an inspired bit of casting, and Ian McKellen was obviously enjoying playing a less serious version of Gandalf. _________________ Da Fro-mastah of da aLp Forums!

We saw that the other night too - very enjoyable. Award for best hair in an animated movie too. _________________ Da Fro-mastah of da aLp Forums!

You should see the doll. Not as bad as Rapunzel, but significantly more frizz. _________________ "If wishes were horses, we'd all be eating steak." |
