While this wasn't Memento or anything, this certainly was NOT Transformers.
I agree with Ipsa, and but I also agree with Spidey. It seems you either hate it or love it. I thought it was a fantastic thing that this wasn't the prequel trilogy all over again in that it didn't answer every goddamn question that wasn't asked. |

Yes, but as the abridged version so brilliantly points out, there is no point in answering any of the questions posed because there is absolutely no internal consistency with regards the plot or background, making any potential answers meaningless. _________________ Da Fro-mastah of da aLp Forums!

Sometimes, I got the impression that the only way the plot could have progressed was because the characters were stupid and/or jerks. Which I wouldn't have a problem with if it weren't a movie that was trying to be serious or if it was a movie in which that was the whole point, that the characters are stupid and/or jerks.

I thought the most unnecessary characters were the ones doing the most bitching (the punk guy, Charlize Theron's character, etc), so if I had to pick something that absolutely annoyed me the most about this movie, it's this. I feel everything could have easily been done differently regarding how each event was set into motion, but for the most part, I liked it.
Amazingly nails it in one paragraph:
| Quote: | | It looks as if the Prometheus sequel is indeed moving forward. Anticipation for Ridley Scott’s Alien-esque sci-fi pic was at a fever pitch when the film hit theaters, but reaction was enthusiastically polarized. Some loved that Scott left many questions unanswered and tackled large ideas, while others were distracted by the script’s plot holes and ridiculously inept scientists. I fell somewhere in between, but I’d by lying if I said I wasn’t interested in seeing where Scott plans to go for the follow-up. |

So I FINALLY saw this movie. What a load of fuck!
I hope I am not echoing previous gripes so much, but here goes...
First of all, there's no way this could happen in 2087. Don't they know to set their stuff suitably far in the future?
What the fuck is up with that geologist who says he's only in it for the money? I guess we needed some heavy-handed foreshadowing that he was going to a trouble, but seriously? He doesn't care about geology? He doesn't care that they just discovered FUCKING ALIENS that created humanity? Why is ALMOST EVERYONE so fucking nonchalant about that?
Why does the biologist think it's cool to touch a newly-encountered, threatening-looking lifeform? Why doesn't anyone seem to be concerned with microbes on this earthlike planet that hosted humanlike aliens?
If they were going to bring some weapons, why didn't they actually bring good weapons?
How is it that all of the alien lifeforms can violate laws of conservation of mass and energy by growing at a ridiculously fast rate with no apparent food source?
If the alien dude from the beginning was going to sacrifice himself by dissolving his body to spread his DNA, do you really think he'd bother with the jockey shorts?
I guess the movie does clear up one point though, which is how xenomorphs can grow in humans at all without causing all kinds of medical issues. I suppose they were engineered to live in hosts with that kind of DNA, or something. _________________ Context is everything. |

I was mostly wondering how the hell that Alien thingy in the end managed to fit in to that body before it bursted out. It was practically the same size. _________________

I've DVR'd this and am hoping to see it soon... if only to know why there is so much hate. _________________ "If wishes were horses, we'd all be eating steak." |

I'll keep that in mind. Still haven't watched it. Also, bought the new Bond movie, like a month ago, and still haven't watched it either.
Somehow, I doubt either is kid-appropriate. Started watching the new Total Recall, but haven't gotten very far with that one. _________________ "If wishes were horses, we'd all be eating steak." |
