I'm on track to putting every one of those movies in my Netflix queue in the recommended order, but in the meantime, the last movie I saw was The Change-Up, which wasn't nearly as bad as the internet lead me to believe.

Lately I've been watching quite many movies, but I'm not sure if I remember them all..O.o At least Fistful of Dollars, Butch and the Kid, Moon, and uhh.. Well, all of those three were really good, I had my doubts about Moon, but it turned out to be pretty great.

The Avengers

Don't ask how I saw it, but I did. It was very, very good. 9/10. Good enough that I will pay matinee prices to see it again this weekend in a theatre.

It would have to be The Incredible Hulk, since the ending had the tie-in with the Avengers.

Saw "The Avengers" yesterday morning. WAS EXCELLENT.

Did you stay through the credits to see the final scene? No dialog, but worth the wait.

Unfortunately, no. Had to go pick up the kids from daycare. Read about it though. Will likely have to wait for the blu ray or an internet posting.

Finally got my girlfriend to watch Star Wars. Last Saturday we watched the first 3 (episode I/II/III). Can't wait to watch the rest with her.

I saw the new Spider-Man movie on July 4th. I give it 8/10. I liked it a lot. More than the Sam Raimi movies for sure.

It was very good. 8/10. For reference, I thought Dark Knight was a solid 9/10.

I disagree. Partially. I guess it depends on your method of judging.

If you scored The Amazing Spider-Man against the criteria for what makes a good movie, it'd pass with a solid B. However, had I seen TASM and TDKR on the same day, I'd have given Spidey a 5 or 6 just because I was already so underwhelmed by it without comparing it to anything else. Well, except maybe the original two movies. (Spider-Man 2 is still absolutely one of my favorite superhero films of all time.)

Garfield's Spidey reminds me of Kick-Ass: just some random asshole in a costume. (For the record, I enjoyed Kick-Ass much, MUCH more than TASM.) There's nothing epic about his story here. In the first trilogy, they made a huge deal about him becoming the savior of New York's people. In this one, they made a huge deal about how sassy he can be. There were so many things that were underplayed, it's almost ridiculous.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed this film. I just thought it was a weak start. What I was impressed by was the chemistry between Peter and Gwen. It makes sense, considering Webb's last movie was (500) Days of Summer (which is one of my favorites). He really knows how to bring out the cutesy romance. It's too bad the hero aspect (the main goddamn aspect) of the film was overshadowed by having dinner with your girlfriend's parents.

Overall, I think I did like it more than the original trilogy. I don't know what it is that makes me think that, even after having so much to complain about. But I just like it. Maybe it's the romance. Maybe it's the potential I see in this series. After thinking about it for a week, I'll give Spider-Man a 7.5. But I have no doubt that the next few Spidey-related films will be much, much better, if only for the fact that Webb and Garfield have already established what their version of Spider-Man is and have gotten the origin shit out of the way so that they can focus on bigger, better things.

I guess my final thought on this is that it hasn't lived up to its name of Amazing. ...Yet.

Abraham Lincoln:Vampire Hunter

Went into this thinking it was going to be okay, and came out blown away by how enjoyable and well done it was. Two thumbs up.

I've sat down over the past month and watched several movies.

The King's Speech and The Artist--I don't think I need to say much about these two, since enough has been said already. Though, having seen them, I don't really feel the need to see them again for a while.

Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy--I'm generally ambivalent about any movie that's spy related since they seem to be either action-packed or very dry, but I did very much enjoy this one. I also didn't realize that it had so many well-known actors in it; I think a lot of the advertising here just really let you know that it starred Gary Oldman.

Constant Gardener--Good film, but filming style made me headachey so I had to watch it over two days.

Real Steel--Loads better than I thought it would be and totally fun. Also did not realize it was based on a Matheson short story.

Mr. Skeffington--Bette Davis film about a woman, adored by all of New York's eligible bachelors, who marries to write off her brother's debt and avoid embezzlement charges. Complications ensue: he knows she does not love him, she still has suitors visiting frequently, Stockmarket crash, WWII, etc. Lot of movie for 2.5 hours and definitely requires a certain mindset to watch; slow-motion trainwreck. Claude Rains is excellent as Job Skeffington.

How to Marry a Millionaire, Gentlement Prefer Blondes, Some Like It Hot--Just plain fun, though I think the latter two are probably the best of the group.
