Yesterday my phone froze and I had to remove the battery. When I started it up again it gave me a lot of errors and I had to remove the battery again. Then when I had another go at it, it would freeze the minute I had an internet connection. Turned out the problem was with the Android Market thingy trying to update stuff (which is also the reason it froze in the first place).
Anyway, I finally got that sorted out and it's running again, but the application for the camera is gone. It's completely missing. The camera still works (tried another app that uses the camera) and I've still got all the photos but besides that, the camera is fucked.
I probably have to do a factory reset, but first I want to find out if there's a way to get it all working again, which saves me the trouble of reinstalling everything and trying to remember what settings I changed and that sort of stuff. Also, I'll lose my Solitaire hi-score of 1:18.
Technology is great, as long as it's working properly. _________________

Until I got to the end of the first paragraph I was sure you mean literally froze. Because that could totally happen here right now. Because it's cold like a motherfucker. _________________ i have no time for anal love

It's only -8 or something overhere.
Anyway, phone is totally dead now, Facebook is being a fucktard and the Lord of the Rings Online servers are down due to maintenance. All little annoyances that are royally pissing me off. I'm gonna play some Killzone 3 in a minute to cool down but I swear to God, if that's not working either somehow, I might just go outside and randomly kill people.
Or I'll go to bed and snuggle up with my girlfriend, depends on whether or not I can find something heavy to bludgeon people with. _________________

Meh, all went well. I started playing around in Minecraft a bit, Facebook stopped being a fucktard and I realized I still have the warranty for my phone. _________________

It's been cold here. Not too cold. I actually think the parts of Alaska I frequent have not lived up to the Alaska standard in years (or I've gotten used to it).
But what makes me unhappy is that I'm sick again, which Alaska winters always have managed to do. |

I read all the pages on clientsfromhell.net... now I need to find a new way to procrastinate. Or I could actually get some work done, but that sounds scary. _________________

I'm incredibly saddened at the passing of Adam Yauch, better known as MCA, of the Beastie Boys. He was 47 years old.
When you got so much to say
It's called gratitude
And that's right
RIP MCA. 1964-2012

Man, I logged in just to say the same thing. Fucking bummer. Makes me so mad at myself that a few years back I passed at the chance to see the Boys live. The only chance, as it turns out. Stupid me.
It's cause you can't, you won't, and you don't stop
MCA come and rock the sure shot! _________________ i have no time for anal love

Sort of realized today that I'm way behind on my planning with my internship. Been too busy procrastinating which was a dumb fucking move, since me graduating kind of depends on this internship.
I knew in the back of my mind I was heading in this direction, but I didn't really want to confront myself with it. I really hope I didn't fuck myself over too much. And if I do, I hope I can stay away from my normal approach of feeling depressed about it and not doing anything to fix it.
Thing is also, I'm scared of graduating. I've been a student for 7 years now, and the minute I graduate, I gotta find a job and have a real life. And I'm fucking terrified at the thought of that. Not that I don't want a life with responsibilities and stuff, it's just that I'm scared it will take me too long to get everything in order and it will screw everything up and I'll just blame myself for it and not do anything about it besides feeling sorry for myself. _________________

I know the feeling. And it isn't going to be easy. But running away from it is not going to help.
Here's some small advice: make a to do list for each day, the coming week, and make sure that you portion it in such a way that at the end of the week, you've done all that you must do in order to get this behind you. Make it a list where you can tick whenever you've done something. It gives a most gratifying feeling at the end of the day to see you've ticked all you must do.
I know it sounds childish, but I'm 35 and only discovered this just a few years ago and it works for me!
If possible, turn of the internet (really shut it down) during most of the days.
And trust me, from what I've seen, you've got talent. Once graduated, scary as it might seem, you will be getting somewhere.
Good luck, man and make sure you don't get stuck in the moment. But I know, by being aware of the risk yourself, you've already taken a great step towards not getting stuck. _________________ The Justified Ancient of Mu Mu |

I'd amend that statement with: "If possible, use the internet only for job-seeking." Also try to set a side ___ hours a day for prospecting and ___ hours a day towards working on your resume/cover letters and assembling a portfolio of what you've done (I'm assuming you could put a flash drive on your programming stuff). Finally, be ready to talk about what you have to offer and what interests you at such-n-such company -- this last part is for when you get a call for an interview; do your research and be knowledgeable about the company, what direction the company is going in and be ready with questions. _________________ "If wishes were horses, we'd all be eating steak." |
