Anyone pick this up? I feel bad about it. I loved the first and did all the downloads (although I don't think I ever reached the level 50 (or was it 60?). Got 2 and loved it, but never finished. Stuck at the point where I think I'm supposed to go rescue something. I recall being the Seth Green character and didn't like how that scenario turned out so I went back to an earlier save thinking if I upgraded the ship, the outcome would have been different. Anyway, I lost heart after nothing happened.
Seen the commercials for 3, but due to the lack of quality time to play a game (and the Wiff's renewed interest in Catan and Hexic) let alone a new game.
So tell me, is it all that? _________________ "If wishes were horses, we'd all be eating steak." |

Finishing up my main run of ME2 to import into 3, which I have. Will report later.
The upgrades matter once you go through the Omega 4 relay, it doesn't affect anything beforehand. _________________

Thanks for confirmation. I figured that the upgrades would matter at some point. I just lost heart in the game because I had to go back several hours and redo stuff and I didn't like that the effort didn't change the outcome. While I know it makes for a better story, I took a break from it and ended up getting addicted to Fallout3 & New Vegas.
Looking forward to hearing about ME3. _________________ "If wishes were horses, we'd all be eating steak." |

I picked this up yesterday, played it just long enough to create a character and watch the intro. Unfortunately, since I played the first two on the pc, and this one on the xbox, I don't have a save to import. Character creation in 3 gives you a chance to set some of the history flags from the first two, if that's any help cfos. _________________ Da Fro-mastah of da aLp Forums!

I beat it a couple days ago. Very awesome experience. The graphics are improved, the combat is about as slick as it's ever been in the series, and the choices you've made in the other two games actually make big differences (for the most part).
That being said, I did have some issues with it. WAAYYYY too little dialogue choices and conversations in general. While there is plenty of story and dialogue, in previous games I enjoyed talking to everyone after each mission, but now it's almost a waste of time.
WARNING DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVEN'T PLAYED IT THROUGH:
Spoiler: | 90+ hours of decision making and gameplay went in to my character through the course of the three games and they basically ruined everything in the last five minutes with one of the worst endings I've EVER seen. And I ended up with the "best" ending! No matter what you do, or which of the "three" endings you pick the galaxy as we know it in Mass Effect is utterly wrecked. Absolutely worth playing through to the end, though. Still one of my favorite science fiction universes ever. |

I'm already finding the game a little dialogue light. Shame, really, it feels like it lacks some of the amazing depth that made the first two so great. Early days yet though. Also, Adepts are still completely broken, maybe even more so, given the new weight mechanics.
Nice to have you back, Frost, btw.
Edit: Cheers for the link, Simon. Looks like it should be workable, particularly now I've got my PC and Xbox talking to eachother wirelessly.
Further edit: Scratch that, looks like I need to find an existing ME2 save and patch my exported one into it, given that I don't own an xbox copy of ME2. _________________ Da Fro-mastah of da aLp Forums!

Update: Hoo boy.
Every minute minus 5 of this game is solid gold.
The last 5 minutes are like an anti-Midas: It turns that gold to shit.
Don't even consider getting it (or at least getting to the endgame) until Bioware explains how it's gonna deal with the problem. Honestly. _________________

Balls. I'm hearing this from all corners, unfortunately. Happily, I'm in the middle of playing through the first two on the console, a far easier option than faffing around trying to rebuild non-extant saves and port them. _________________ Da Fro-mastah of da aLp Forums!

Actually, I won't say what exactly is going on, but there is some compelling speculation that Bioware was actually just trolling the entire planet with the ending. I mean, with actual evidence found in the games in fact. And that a proper one may be announced shortly. Hopefully. _________________

So, they're gonna release an add-on with the "real" ending? Sounds like they're trying to backtrack and cover their arses. _________________ Da Fro-mastah of da aLp Forums!

Nope, they just announced that they're gonna 'extend' the current endings.
Whatever that means. _________________

Still no word on when exactly the DLC extending the end is being released, but it will be free and out sometime during the summer (for those who have not been keeping up with ME3 related news) _________________
