^Awesome.
I'm listening to the soundtrack to Once; amazing soundtrack, great, great movie. "Falling Slowly" and "When Your Mind's Made Up" are my favorites, but the scene involving "If You Want Me" is as hypnotizing as the song is catchy. |

Some shit that's been posted as a "new Portishead song".
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A4EkggNG3RM&feature=share
No one would fall for that one. It's a nice song, but it mostly sounds like the Portishead rip offs that were everywhere during the second half of the nineties. Unlike, say, bands like U2 and Pink Floyd during their latter days, Portishead are too self conscious to start sounding like a cheap version of themselves. _________________ The Justified Ancient of Mu Mu |

Since it was going to happen anyway, I'm not sure which I'd rather have: the actual band doing it to themselves or a cheap knock-off cover band "continuing" in their spirit. One's completely disappointing, the other nearly hopeless.
However, my opinion stands; the modern stuff's still (mostly) fine with me. Coincidentally I was just listening to the Kindergarten version of Ultraviolet. I enjoy the structure of this more than the "original." |

Marvin Gaye & Tammi Tarrell - Your Precious Love
I'm having one of my Marvin Gaye/Isaac Hayes/Curtis Mayfield days. It's good to have those. _________________ i have no time for anal love

Actually the original AND its various covers (mostly Adele and Clara C). It's been on repeat for the past few weeks now. |

Ellie Goulding's Lights. Its not nearly the best thing I've ever heard but somehow I can't stop listening to it.
Also went to RAIN, that Beatles tribute show. It was pretty incredible. They didn't play Across the Universe, which would have made it perfect. |

Florence + The Machine.
I mean, I'm trying. I do like them, but they're not blowing me away like everyone's claiming. I didn't go looking for that hype either, it just built up after stumbling upon countless OH MY GOD FLO <3333 comments on the internet.
I don't want to call bullshit on all the Florence fans - I really hope I'm missing something here. It's not the first time I've tried, either. Maybe they'll just grow on me, I dunno. It's just very disappointing at this point. It's Arcade Fire all over again. |

The Heart asks Pleasure First - Michael Nyman. It's that gorgeous theme tune from the movie The Piano. Just popped into my head on the way home yesterday. _________________ Da Fro-mastah of da aLp Forums!

The Lungs album has some good moments, Kiss With a Fist being probably my favorite track on it. But I didn't even bother to listen to the second album, the bits I heard seemed really boring. _________________ i have no time for anal love
