So I had my hopes up. Then I saw the reviews. I haven't seen this one yet, don't think I will.
Anyone else here saw it and care to comment? _________________

Saw it last Saturday. It's nice. It doesn't have as much hilarious Johnny Depp as the first one, but at least over dramatic Orlando and Keira aren't in it. _________________

Waitwaitwait... So what you're saying is: they tossed away Elizabeth and Will, the two "wet blankets" (to quote a classic) that everyone thought were taking up to much screentime, thus limiting the viewer's exposure to the true star and selling point of the movies, i.e. everyone's beloved rascal pirate Jack; they promised to make a fourth movie exactly like the fans wanted - at last focusing entirely on pirate Jack and his awesomeness; they release the movie and the first thing I hear is that there's less of pirate Jack doing funny shit in it than in the first one???

Well it was an obvious cash-in sequel anyway. What did you expect. (Please ignore the fact that I was excited when I saw the trailers and generally pumped to see this one, until I saw the Rottentomatoes score.) _________________

I'm not pointing fingers at anyone. I sure as hell didn't expect anything worthwhile from this sequel, so it doesn't bother me in the slightest.
I'm just amazed at the sheer absurdity of the situation and the level of hubris and contempt for the viewer displayed by today's movie industry. But maybe I'm just getting old, I dunno. _________________ i have no time for anal love

Well, Depp is definitely the main character, but he's not as wacky as in the first one. At least that's what I thought. It's not like he's gone all sane and stuff, it's just slightly different. _________________

Meh.
In my opinion, Depp's career was all downhill after 21 Jumpstreet. _________________ "If wishes were horses, we'd all be eating steak." |

Story of my life, I suppose, but I enjoyed it. It's not as good as the other three, but it's close. _________________ You forget one thing: rock crushes scissors. But paper covers rock... and

This series has long since outlived its appeal. _________________ Da Fro-mastah of da aLp Forums!
