Visually stimulating, idiotic plot/dialogue.

Go see it for the cinematography but bring your ipod with you so as not to be burdened by the ridiculous attempt at a "deep" story that bleeds symbolism.

Technically speaking, SuckerPunch! was much like BitchSlap!

I made plans last Tuesday to go see this movie with a good friend and a large group of his cohorts. Friday morning I read a review of the movie by another friend who professionally reviews movies (he's a geek and a fan, not a "critic", so I trust his opinions) who panned it.

I went and saw it anyhow. It was easily the worst movie I've ever paid to see. That's not hyperbole. I mean EVER.

My thoughts: The visual effects seemed more like showing off than a way to enhance the storytelling. I get it, Zach Snyder, you love that fucking lame-ass gimmick where you slow shit down so everyone can see what's going on, then speed it up to normal time. You use it too often and it's getting hackneyed. Just fucking stop already. Or at least stop using it every ten seconds. Used sparingly it would have made the SPX less annoying. As for the actual story, it was just awfully told. The jump from one reality to another was jarring and confusing. The plot was very simple but made much more cumbersome than was necesary by way of the pointless fantasy-thriller-meets-Moulin-Rouge set pieces. The acting was horrible. That's all I can say about that. The resolution was a head-scratcher. Oh wow! The story was never about Babydoll after all! That lobotomy was the best thing that could have happened to her. Of course, this could be a case of "Star Wars goggles": those movies were made for the 8-13 year-old set so many adults walked away from the trilogies with a case of the blahs. If I were in the 8-13 year-old set I might have enjoyed this movie. But I'm 36 years old, and "Sucker Punch" felt like its title, especially considering that I almost never pay for movies anymore. The money I spent on my ticket to this one could have gone to some other, more worthy entertainment.

Live an learn. Wait for cable if you watch this at all. I give it a 0.5 out of 10.

Eh I haven't seen it yet but judging from the trailers... It's not the worst movie I'd ever see, but it's not worth seeing in any case.
