Side Jobs -- Jim Butcher
It is a collection of short stories (all part of the Dresden Universe) that were previously published as part of short story anthologies. He has some additional content too. Really enjoyable. He provides content describing the stories -- such as when he wrote them (such as a self-described crappy short story written for a writing class while a student in college). I also am going to try another run at the Dead before Dark (or something). It's written by Charleine (Sp?) Harris and they are the ongoing book series that the True Blood HBO shows are based on. I'm also going to try and read the Ender's Game book. For some reason this book is big in the Mormon community -- likely written by a Mormon. "Ender" is awfully close to "Elder". _________________ "If wishes were horses, we'd all be eating steak." |

I got a nice pile of Donald Duck comics for Xmas but I already had pretty many books and comics I haven't read yet... So, slowly and steady I'm trying to survive with those.
It would be ironic if I died under this book flood. I love reading and stuff like that and I have never before had this problem. But, I guess I'll be reading those for a while... _________________ After my life I'm just gonna relaaax in Hell..! |

So I finally finished reading Watchmen the other night... I honestly don't see what the big deal was. Mediocre comic, mediocre movie. _________________

| I didn't know whether to comment on it or not, but now this is probably gonna end up having its own cut-off in Utter B.S. sooner or later. |

I thought the comics were savage. The movie was at best mediocre though. _________________ Da Fro-mastah of da aLp Forums!

I really liked the opening 10 minute or so sequence. Then it felt like it went downhill from there. Novel was great.
Reading the Sherlock Holmes stories/novels right now. Finished "A Study in Scarlet," "The Sign of the Four," and am about halfway through "The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes." I need something fun and distracting to read and they are fitting the bill perfectly. _________________ "Yeast devil! Back to the oven that baked you!" |

+1
I still remember waiting for each one to come out each month. Still have all 12 first prints. I think, in part, the bonus material (Under the Hood, psychology report, etc.) help elevate this "comic". _________________ "If wishes were horses, we'd all be eating steak." |

agreed. I thought it was a good way to introduce the past (under the hood) material. _________________ "If wishes were horses, we'd all be eating steak." |

I thought the movie was rather amazing, but that might be because I saw the movie first. Then I got the book and thought the same thing. _________________ i have no time for anal love

You know, I read it and I still don't know if I like it or not. Since I haven't picked up another book in the series, I guess that speaks for itself. I think it's one of those things that lends itself better to t.v. than to novel form. _________________ "Yeast devil! Back to the oven that baked you!" |

I've been reading the first Hunger Games, about half way through it and I'm enjoying it so far. I'd recommend it. _________________

Started "They Call me Baba Booey"
It's about a guy from the Howard Stern Show. Read the first 24 pages or so while getting stickers for the car renewal. Not exactly what I expected. I was expected it to be about the show, but so far all I've read is that th e guy's mom is/was insane. _________________ "If wishes were horses, we'd all be eating steak." |

Cape Fear was on the television today and Juliette Lewis was reading the same paperback copy of Look Homeward, Angel. I'm thinking of re-reading it although I can't remember if I like You Can't Go Home Again, better. _________________ "If wishes were horses, we'd all be eating steak." |

| During a layover in Seattle I picked up Rolling Stone's Top 100 Artists, which occupied a better part of my flight later that day. It's amazing how many of the people I knew of/had music from, but have never actually gotten around to listening to. |

Finished the epilogue of the third book. Took some 1100+ pages, but wow.
For those, Ipsa aside, that like to read, seriously, check it out:

The Costco newsletter said it is available Tuesday, July 12! Looking forward to it. Also, kind looking forward to the next Dresden Files book which is coming out at the end of the month. I'm kinda sad that I didn't pick up the Hunger Games trilogy when it was available at Costco. _________________ "If wishes were horses, we'd all be eating steak." |
