+1

Did manage to get some time into it. Guns jam quite a bit more. Will be interesting to see how reloading works as well as making potions (survivability state). Weapons and ammo are harder to come by (not playing the ridiculous hardcore mode). Like hearing the eye-patch guy from Battlestar in the voice acting. Not sure what I'll make of the whole up-to-two companions, yet.

6 hours in. Loving it.

Definitely, more challenging. You only get level perks every 2 levels. Towns/factions may like/dislike you based on actions.

Spent a great deal of the weekend playing it, the Hardcore mode is a fucking great touch I think, especially when you are doing the best you can to make enemies... Razz

A bit of the buzz has been taken away by Force Unleashed 2, i quite enjoyed the first one, but the second, yes it has epic graphics but it is a bit more 'fast paced hack and slash' I am not sure what to think.

So is New Vegas a proper Fallout 4? And if so, why isn't it called Fallout 4???

Not sure. The game "mechanics" are very similar, although there structure of the game is different. Takes place at about the same time. There is a greater emphasis on companions and dealing with factors (like/dislike), all pre-leveled enemies, etc. which really has an effect on game play. I'm no expert, but maybe the use of the same "engine" hasn't really changed, rather the game is similar but caters towards a lot of issues that the hardcore gamers complained about with FO3.

Just some thought.

Gonna get it in a week, I'm actually pretty hyped up for this. Fallout 3 was only my favorite game ever (I couldn't get out of the cave in Fallout 1...) next to, well, that Final Fantasy game.

Just made it to the strip. This Fallout has a lot more to offer. I'm sure the hardcore folks will like the hardcore mode -- you have to keep hydrated, eat, sleep, ammo has weight, etc. If you don't maintain your "health" you may die.

Also, I'm noticing that some of your companions really don't like some factions and will outright attack them -- before you know it, sometimes. Definitely adds a new wrinkle to the game as you companions may automatically change you ability to take on certain faction quests.

Just now noticed this thread. Played for quite awhile. Unlike in F3 the world is MUCH larger. A larger selection of weapons is great and the animations for firing the Anti-Material rifle from the hip makes me smile. Unique weapons both feel and LOOK unique, unlike F3 where they were just Vanilla weapons with some upped stats. Ive gotten all companions. Rex is a killer and hand Boone a sniper rifle or anti-material rifle and its all over for the enemy. Weapon mods are a very nice addition.

This playthru had me playing stealthy and slow. Reached the Strip and most of the locations but im playing it slow just in case its "another up-the-arse" ending like in Pre-Broken Steel Fallout 3. Cant wait for the DLCs.

Also if you guys need any suggestions for mods I can point you to a few.

What? I thought the world in F3 was positively gigantic. Isn't there a limit to this madness?

I found this world to be smaller than te one in Fallout 3.

But there is undeniably more to do.

I have to agree with Az. The xbox forums also consider this world to be smaller, although I can't say I've gone to all 4 corners. The mountains really cut up the landscape and I do enjoy have to find pathways around (even if there is a blind deathclaw; side note: I just reached 17th level and have Boone and Ed-E as a companion and I'm still avoiding the young deathclaws -- also avoiding those rattlesnake-headed things).

Is this anything like the actual game?

Hmmm. You appear to be correct. The world is slightly smaller. It seems to take a bit longer to travel though.

Actually, there is a perk you during character creation that allows for some wacky zany encounters. Forgot what it is called, but it isn't for the people that "take the game very seriously". Having said that, there were some trippy things associated with addictions. Can't say I've spoken to geckos yet, but I think that may occur.

I'm gonna get it once my internship is done, because then I'll actually have time to play it more than 30 minutes a month.

I love it, but honestly, enough of the damn glitches. I'm in the middle of upgrading all the NCRs outposts and I keep getting stuck in the mountains around Red Rock Canyon. Other than that I love the ballistic fist, so much more satisfying than the power fist.

Hit about level 18-20 before I started over with a new character. That character is now at about level 20-22. Fun game. Followers really play a much larger role. It makes you think about "perk" selection. For example, if you've got two side kicks, do you really need Mysterious Stranger? Likewise, do you need "strong back"? I dunno. I kept strong back so I can carry more (duh) and listening to "Fine by me" gets pretty old. What about the rest of you that have been playing this? So far I've been sticking with Boone and Ed-E, although I may drop Boone and pick up Cass or Lily so I can do some Legion stuff (or at least visit them).

Haven't played in a while, I'm actually playing Dead Space for the first time, but I've got to

Spoiler:
The part right before you choose to give either Yes Man or Mr. House the platinum chip, I've just been doing sidequests and putting of progressing in the story.

Where's the Ron Perlman Narration perk btw? Did they say they'd put it in the game?
