So yeah. Reporting back from Starcraft 2 and I gotta say...

Buying the game was actually worth it.

Fun game for starters. Really pushed things forward and, what's this, the game is accessible to newbies/strat amateurs? The basic tutorials are not that interesting but the Challenge modes... are. The basic challenges taught me a lot about the units, old and new, as well as really hitting on me the importance of good positioning and ability use. Rediscovering game replays is also a joy. I was pleased to find out just how the AI was able to build an army that kicked my ass so fast in my second online game and am already replanning my early-game strategy.

Alas, it really seems as if Zerg got it up the pooper now. Three tech levels, hydralisks as Tier 2 units, zerglings even weaker than tissue paper, fucking SPAUN MOAR OVERLOADS... At least the protoss got a much needed boost from the original.

The achievements felt worth going for, the rewards are pretty neat in my opinion (Pandaren avatar here I come!), and hooking up with friends for a game is really neat and easy. Although I'm having trouble figuring out how to add a friend manually without making them realid friends, or at least changing friend statuses to realid/nonrealid. Battle.net functionality is, at least in my case, worth the trouble now. As for the Collector's Edition goodies. Well, the USB stick kicks ass, art book kicks ass, soundtrack kicks ass, comic I've yet to read, the different Thor model is fun, and the box. Is. Glorious.

So yeah, I'm actually really glad I got Starcraft 2. If any of you guys got it and want to play sometime just hit me with a PM.
