Wow, didn't even think of that. If you can point me to such a setting, I will be both extremely sheepish and grateful in equal measure. _________________ Da Fro-mastah of da aLp Forums!

Control Panel > Power Options > Change Plan Settings > Change Advanced Power Settings > USB Settings
Change USB Selective Suspending to Disabled. That should do the trick. _________________

Got it. Seems to have done the trick, nice one Simon.
Edit: spoke too soon. Back to my more inelegant fix until I can figure out what's going on. _________________ Da Fro-mastah of da aLp Forums!

Well, on top of the audio problems, which I finally pinned down to the fact that Creative cards are PCI hogs and is probably getting choked when my pci RAID controller is in use (i.e. all the goddamn time), my mobo stops turning on after shutdown unless I pull out the damn plug completely.
On the upside, more reason to get a shiny new rig. _________________

I'm jealous - it's been quite a while since I had a desktop uber-machine. Going shopping for the parts is hella satisfying. _________________ Da Fro-mastah of da aLp Forums!

Apparently I have to format my essay in MLA style. The guideline for this essay was only... 500 words. 500. I can't even manage to get it that short (current draft is 678).
And the subject is on... an obscure Victorian-era science fiction author. Are we really supposed to cite our sources? _________________

I think that the last time I used MLA formatting was when I was in 7th or 8th grade (14 yrs old?)...? Maybe high school? Boo!
Maybe you should just use "[citation needed]" instead of actually something or other. _________________ "Yeast devil! Back to the oven that baked you!" |

It's good for you.
Man, 500 words is almost impossible to keep to - conference abstracts have to be that short too, and it takes me all day to cut it down. _________________ Da Fro-mastah of da aLp Forums!

So my old sub-woofer was having weird things with power. Even without a signal it'd occasionally make weird noise. So I replaced it. Now the new one, which I've only had for a few days, is dead.
Great. _________________

Deus Ex: Invisible War.
No, not the small environments, or the hacked down gameplay. I haven't managed to get far enough to get pissed by that yet.
It's that the game runs a new instance every fucking time it loads a level. What the fuck? _________________

I never had that issue with the PC version. I had many other issues with it though. _________________ Da Fro-mastah of da aLp Forums!
