This morning my boss ephatically and with no room for misunderstanding said, not in so many words, that the personal hapiness of our staff means nothing to him. He shouted at me like I was a misbehaving child. So I've been pissed all day. _________________ "I do not feel obliged to believe that the same God who has endowed us with sense, reason, and intellect has intended us to forgo their use."

Not a good idea. I would be out of a job and in jail. He's petty, insecure and likely to press assault charges. _________________ "I do not feel obliged to believe that the same God who has endowed us with sense, reason, and intellect has intended us to forgo their use."

I don't put up with shit like that in the work-place. I've always set everyone straight the first time something happens. Saying "I'm only gonna tell you this one time..." is always a good starting point. _________________

My fucking car was stolen!!!
It was parked in a busy parking lot and we had our backs turned for maybe 3 minutes. No one saw anything and when we asked the absent security guards what their excuse was we were told that one was in the bathroom and the other one was shopping.
Spent last night at the police station.
I'm just thankful that it was a car theft and not a hijacking. As long as my family is ok then that's fine.
Still.. doesn't stop me from wishing evil, painful things on the [profanity censored]s!!! |

I'm jealous. The only reason I don't leave my car unlocked at night in the hope that someone will steal it is because I get homeless people sleeping in it then. And they smell. More than the car. _________________ Da Fro-mastah of da aLp Forums!

Trying to hold on to something like that over here is like trying to stay on-topic. Sometimes desirable, but most often very impossible _________________

While it sucks that your car was stolen, but if you were only going to park it for 3 minutes... you probably should have said, "Damn the Environment! I'm staying in the car and keeping the A/C running!" _________________ "If wishes were horses, we'd all be eating steak." |

Man, I am so sick of Microsoft. Since I don't have a desktop machine anymore, I use a usb mobile broadband dongle for my internets. A couple of weeks ago, it started disconnecting itself every 3 or 4 minutes. I brought it into the shop 'cos I thought there was something wrong with it - upgraded the damn thing to the newer model, brought it home and voila, the same issue. Booted into Linux, no problem at all with it. I have to use Windows at the moment cos I'm so close to finishing my thesis that I can't afford the loss of time associated with compatibility issues etc with all my files. So I did a bit of digging on the MS forums, to discover that they recently released a "fix" for 7 that checks to see if your usb devices are being used, and if not, powers them down. Great if it's a memstick or something, a bit pants if it's your internet connection. Apparently, some XP users went through a similar issue a couple of years ago. So in order to keep my connection running, I have to keep a script going that checks the contents of my dongle's storage drive every couple of minutes so windows knows it's being used.
Firstly, there are more than a few mobile internet users that run Win7 with the same issue out there now, so sort your bugfixes out properly before you implement them you fuckers. And secondly, rather than stealth updating my system, why not tell the end user what your mystery updates are doing to their computer, so they can anticipate any problems.

Hrm. There should be a setting in power options that disables disabling usb device that are not in use. Unless I'm mistaking this for something else. _________________
