On ps3, the first demo was superseded by another, smaller one only 800 odd MG. Delete the old one and get the newer one. It match makes a lot faster. _________________ "When I get home... I am going to do so much fucking cocaine..." |

Gamespot gave the game a 5.5 out of 10. I am sad... _________________ You forget one thing: rock crushes scissors. But paper covers rock... and

| I thought it was getting an 8 everywhere. You know, great but not really great. I never looked at any of the actual reviews and had only read this on Amazon, so yeah. |

I stopped trusting Gamespot ever since they gave GTA4 a 10.
And when they compared GTA4 and MGS4 against each other |

It feels like there was so much wasted potential in here.
First, the good. The trophy kills are spectacular. Seeing a Predator tear out someone's head and a good portion of their spine incites a feeling that can only be described as "splooge-inducing". The stealth moments are brutally satisfying. Silently slithering down the wall as an alien to slaughter an unsuspecting marine is everything I'd hoped it'd be. Finally, the multiplayer is lots of fun, especially the Infection and Predator Hunt modes.
This alone isn't enough to glaze over the inherent, core shittiness to this game.
Things like graphics that switch between fantastic to uglier than the inside of a hobo's butt (they actually manage to get Lance Henrikson in to play Karl Bishop Weyland, but his character model looks nothing like him) and no cover system (not even a friggin' crouch button) are just some of the things that keep this game from being great.
The Marine campaign is the longest and worst of the three. The first levels are dark, claustrophobic, and very atmospheric. But at a certain point, someone turns on the lights and you're dropped into wide open areas. All the claustrophobia and dread that you experience are sadly taken away.
One of the biggest problems is the level design. The Alien, Predator and Marine campaigns only have about 3 or 4 unique areas to each. The rest of the areas are just reused from campaign to campaign. Often the areas feel like they weren't designed for a certain species' gameplay style. A forested canyon might be lots of fun to jump around in as the tree-leaping Predator, but becomes tedious and dizzying to play as the wall-scampering alien.
To top it off, the exciting multiplayer is based on a painfully slow matchmaking and rank system. If you want to earn different skins, you have to rank up. In order to rank up, you have to earn XP. The only way to earn XP is through ranked matches, which are accessed exclusively through match-making, meaning you'll often be dropped in servers on the other side of the world.
So. When it's great it's great, but when it's bad, it sucks shit off the ocean floor. I'm playing it a lot now, but in a couple weeks I'll probably be done with it for good. |

To understand completely what Flesh is talking about, you have to have played the game. Unfortunately, I have, and I totally agree, it was a total disappointment. The xeno campaign was way to short, fuck the whole game was too short, apart from the marine campaign, that can just piss off all together. I finished the Xeno story in like an hour and a half, the Yautja was quite defiantly my favorite, as Flesh said, the trophy taking is everything I would like in a video game. But there are just so many shit-full aspects of the game that it offsets the overwhelming coolness of the Yautja ripping out someones spinal coulomb.
After finishing the game, I booted up my PC and cried while playing AvP2, and reminiscing about things that will never be the same again... _________________ "When I get home... I am going to do so much fucking cocaine..." |
