Hannibal, I had sort of a Hannibal Lecter day on sunday, watched the whole series. Hannibal Rising, Red Dragon, Silence Of The Lambs and Hannibal, great movies.

I don't know about you, but I thought it was one of the greatest action movies to ever come out in these past few years. once Liam Neeson started kicking ass, it just didn't stop until the bitter end. for a guy who's best known for his "Qui-Gon" like roles, it's nice to see him being badass again.

and now I have the urge to find and rent/buy Darkman.

The "new" Fast and the Furious. Was ok. Also rented Coraline and picked up some 3-d glasses. Hope to watch it tonight with the Wiff.

How about the one in the Ultimate Spider-Man game? Actually, that one is still better, but only because you could be him, something the Spidey 3 game lacked.

I really hope they don't screw up the Lizard. Or (because we know he'll be in in a sequel) Kletus.

The Fast & The Furious: Tokyo Drift

I liked it. For a while I avoided this film because it looked bad, even worse than the first two films. Aside from the latest film which was actually pretty good, this film decided to do things smart; by being stupid. Instead of trying to rationalize things like the other films tried and only the fourth suceeded, it skipped all justifications and just gave car porn, women in scant clothing, and cliches in such a mindless way it worked. The first two films was set around street racing and gave us characters that really were not that interesting, this movie just gave you carboard cut-outs that knew how to drive, but took the time to explain what is going on, then got to the driving. They had the 25-year old high school student, they had the Obi Wan who helps him out and then dies, they had the annoying buddy who gets his ass-kicked, they had the Ace who is the villain and rival, they had the hot girl who takes interest because she is not Japanese, they had the cars.

The film was just so awful I could not help but love it. Every chracter was so broken and stupid that they only worked because the movie was too. Every time the characters were involved in a conflict; say a chase, they would obviously do it with cars, they did everything with cars. The character actually could have escaped every chase if they just ran into a building so the villains could not pursue. "They fled into a building, crap! Our cars can't follow them in there!" It wasn't until I saw this film that I realized that there are no fist-fights in these films, just races. To defeat these characters, just wreck their car. There was even a scene involving an old muscle-car in the garage that needs to be fixed, prompting me to predict that this was going to be a working progress until the final act where the main character finally tunes it up and uses this to close the conflict and win the race. Why would I think that? BECAUSE THE OTHER FILMS DID THE SAME FUCKING THING!

But like I said, this film was so straight-forward and blunt, it was brilliant, much like the Transformer films.

I actually think this movie was a satire on the previous films, which may explain why the latest was so dynamic.

right now I'm watching the original Charlton Heston version of Planet of the Apes. it's one helluva classic.
