Wow…I’m glad everyone is safe and okay. Insurance is going to suck though…

November 28, 2007 at 10:46 pm

heh, at least everyone is ok, I’d like to take the time (while I can) to tell you Bernie, I’ve appreciated the comic, it’s given me plenty of laughs (and still does….especially the Yankee’s signing Jesus Christ on, I’m not religious or anything, but that’s just funny to me since most of my family is :P )

but, regardless of whether you continue it or not, unfortunately/fortunately, depending on how you look at it, I won’t be able to continue viewing it after about mid January since I’ll be going to Job Corps so that I don’t eff up my life even more >.<

anyway, remember, don’t drink and drive! (do your drinking FIRST and THEN GO DRIVING!) *yes, I quoted George Carlin, one of the greatest comedians of all time in my honest opinion, only beaten by Bob Marley (from Maine, not the stoner :P)*

Priorites, Bernie, they’re yours to set, not ours!

Do it because you love doing it, not because we expect it!

I’m sure the accident helped to affirm for you how important it is to have a life, so do whatever makes you happiest.

If that means having another good run of ALP, great for us if it’s great for you. If you want to stop completely, hey, it’s been a fantastic ride, thanks for having us along.

If you want to post when you feel like it, once this month, two in another three months, I’ll enjoy what I get.

Most important, it’s great that you guys are all safe, as much as it sucks having your car wrecked, at least you are all fine. Hugs to the wife and kids, best of luck whatever you decide.

Well I see family comes first, then friends, then duty, then webcomics.

November 29, 2007 at 5:35 am

Nice smash! Glad you’re okay, and no-one else got hurt. Not updating regularly must not be a sin, cos someone’s still looking out for ya!

November 29, 2007 at 7:21 am

Too bad about but the car but at least everyone was ok.

It would be nice for you to continue doing the comic but I can see how it would take a lot of time. (I also have 4 other comics that I follow.)

November 29, 2007 at 12:24 pm

I think your blog posts are funny too (the story about The Little Tikes Basketball Hoop from God comes immediately to mind.) Even a topic like smashing up your car isn’t immune to a little comic relief! If you just did that, I’d still keep coming back. Of course, having that AND a new comic every once in a while would be icing on the cake.

No pressure, though. Real life comes first. Always.

Hope all goes well with the Insurance, Bern. For what it is worth, I’d love for the site to keep going (assuming there is time for you and yours), even if updates are occasional.

Woops! That’ll buff out hopefully. Even racing drivers crash sometimes, so dont feel too guilty; does make you think about what could have happend though, so you learn to be a bit more slower in future.

As for ALP- I’d be happy with one update every couple months or so, with guest comics in between; guest comics come from a different mind so you are bound to get some funny stuff offered up for our viewing pleasure.

Whatever you decide, its been one hell of good ride, but all journeys have to end eventually… unless you are following your GPS directions, in which case yopu might be drivinh around in circles forever….

I’m happy to hear that everyone is okay. Get some rest. As you can see we will wait for you.

November 30, 2007 at 10:13 am

glad no one got hurt.
cheers to teh B, teh Mrs B, and teh B-Kids!

as for the alp, do what you must.
just don’t take the site down. we’ve learnt to look after ourselves here.

November 30, 2007 at 10:49 am

Do what you need to do, man. I’d miss the comic, but I got kids too, so I get it. There’s plenty of other stuff to do while I’m at work. Heck, I might even, you know, work!

November 30, 2007 at 6:03 pm

Just kind of seconding what everyone else has said…. First of all, I’m very glad you and yours are all ok – thank goodness!

Second, of course you must do whatever works best for YOU as far as aLp goes, but as many folks have said, even a new comic once in a rare while is better than nothing! And your blogs are very funny too, so as someone else said I’d come here just for those! Anyway I hope we get to read a bit more of Preston and Abe’s adventures, but if not, thank for all the great laughs you’ve given us. You’re a very funny guy, MrB!

Sooooooo glad everyone is OK!

Family comes first because those little ones are only young once.

December 2, 2007 at 9:28 am

hehe. Now your car has battle scars ;)

That being said, you’re really lucky :D

December 5, 2007 at 3:18 pm

Ditto on the everyone being ok is a good thing..thing.

I must say this comic is amazing. I enjoy it quite a bit and send people here all the time. But I agree you must do what you have to do for you.

December 5, 2007 at 8:56 pm

First of all, everyone is okay. Thank God for that. I had a similar accident on Halloween Day, with my three kids in the car, and I know how very lucky we all were to walk away unscathed. It caused $7,000 worth of damage to my car, but that’s a pittance to pay for the safety of my children.

Secondly, isn’t that a Honda Accord you have? By the looks of the hood shape and the headrests, that’s what it appears to be to me. If so, then that should’ve been a plus for you, because those things take a solid hit and keep on going. Mine is a 2007 and I was able (just barely, mind you) to drive it home afterwards. Good cars.

Finally, from my comments in the past, you know where I stand with you and the staggered continuance of aLp. Your heart, although sentimentally attached to everything you created here, just isn’t into it anymore, which is an indicator that it may be time to let go. If that’s not an option, then I still think my suggestion from way back when is valid: allow your fans to give back to you, Bernie. Let us submit our own aLp comics for you to review and post. No contest, no raffle drawings. Just loyal fans, being given a chance to say "thank you" in their own individual and unique styles. Pencil drawings, Photoshop work, digital works in the vein of Diesel Sweeties…all of these would allow the site to continue and free you of the massive undertaking you so plainly dread. You’d never be short of material and who knows? Maybe you’ll find that one person out there who will live up to your expectations and be able to take over on a full-time basis. Just a thought.

Anyways, your family is safe and that’s what matters. Peace to you and yours, sir.

You and the family are the important things. Shame to dent the car, but better than denting the family. (No, wait, they heal….)

Glad you’re all safe, and I’ll just add my voice to the chorus of ‘Do what’s best for you’ as far as the strip goes.

(Meanwhile, Baa-Baa Black Sheep is not the same tune as Twinkle Twinkle or The Alphabet Song. And some of us Brits learned a different Alphabet Song anyway – not having a nice ‘tee’ and ‘zee’ rhyme to tidy it up a bit.)

Zed… I rarely say zee.

Its the melody which is similar, in the beginning of all 3 songs, but baa-baa black sheep changes rather alot towards the end:-

** everyone sing along**

Baa baa black sheep, have you any wool?
Yes sir, yes sir, three bags full.
One for the master, one for the dame (?), and one for the little boy who lives down the lane.

or something like that, Im not as young as I once was…

ALP can take a break, y’know, without it having to be permanent. I am sure we are all happy to wait…well, as happy as we can be anyways. I need some closure though if you are going to shut ALP down… :(

December 13, 2007 at 5:01 am

Bernieh! Well anyways I’ve been a long time reader, for almost over a year now. And I’ve seen many webcomics go to the state of no return, most of which are in the same situation as you. Either choose life or the comic. In the long run life is the better choice while I love your comic; no one can ever state how important your children can be, and in no way should you ever let something like webcomic come in between yourself and something that important. But on the other hand it’s a passion and an art that’s a great way of venting. (sarcasm alert) So my real suggestion is take up some doctor recommended speed pills and never sleep that way you can have both and we won’t lose something we look forward to. :P

(Basically I agree with everyone, but in the end it is your decision and yours alone, and in the end I’ll support you either way)

First time post and probably last time post.

Oh yeah one last thing, here’s to hoping AVP:R will be awesome.

Take care Bern, and I’m glad no one’s hurt from that incident; and whether or not the comics continue, just wanna tell you that aLp is probably the most awesome of comics I’ve ever read, and yes muchly agreed, it’s your choice on whether to continue the comics or not.

And hey, the forum is cool to hang out and chill. [size=7:1a03f46339]I’ve been lurking… @.@[/size:1a03f46339]

Even though I replied late, this is what I would say. Or something close.

I would say that lurking’s a bad thing on a forum, but since it’s aLp, I can’t really see anything bad with that…
