you should try the Korean noodles. They are a little bigger, and spicier.

Happy Birthday!

Birthday(2) = Happy!

You made me laugh for the past forty-five minutes. I love this comic, and even more, I love that someone else noticed that KEVIN BACON SHOWS HIS PENIS IN LIKE EVERY MOVIE EVER. (Yes that was a long time ago but the chances of me commenting more than once are slim because I am lazy.)

I hope you have many delicious noodles and also whatever presents you are hoping for.

Happy birthday, your comics are great!

January 26, 2005 at 11:31 am

Happy birthday, Bernie. Freakin’ old man.

Happy birthday… yesterday was my birthday too :)

Happy Birthday and may many delicious ramen noodles be bestowed up your person!

January 26, 2005 at 1:20 pm

I’ve tried Nong Shim Shin Ramyun, it’s one of the best. I also love udon and soba, and chow fun, and spinach noodles, I love it all. My favorite phrase on Chinese noodle shop menus: “We have 6 kinds of noodles, please specify:”.

And I love Korean food in general, I just ordered some for lunch — delivery, of course.

Thanks everybody…

January 26, 2005 at 2:21 pm

yes, happy birthday!

January 26, 2005 at 2:46 pm

Bernie, i resent that you say that american ramen is worse than chinese ramen or japanese. Granted there are better ones (like the ones in the bowl or packages but have bowl bretheren) but for the money top ramen and maruchan (better than top ramen) are damn good for the money. If your a salt fiend like me, drain the water out of the noodles before you put in the flavor packet, and season the whole wad of cooked noodles. Salty heaven! Its tastes damn good too.

Anyways happy birthday and i hope you get some red envelopes… wait your married… so i hope you give some red envelopes in about 2 weeks…. like to me…

January 26, 2005 at 3:46 pm

I dig the whole, draining the water out before adding the seasoning thing. Add some hard boiled eggs and/or some chopped green onion and you’re good to go.

My threshold for ramen packets is pretty wide. I have to draw the line at Smack Ramen, though. I mean, it’s called “Smack” Ramen.

Yeah, I just don’t touch the stuff.

Oh, and Happy (post) Birthday!

What is up with this comic? It wasn’t funny! Are you already out of good ideas? Or am I the only one stupid enought to not get the joke?

January 26, 2005 at 6:09 pm

Been eating proper Chinese noodles for the past few days, cooked by my Chinese housemate. Ahhh life is good. 8)
Happy belated birthday, mister!

Sapporo ichiban in the hizzy! Essential part of any college student’s diet. Happy bday, B..

I just thought that I would mention that I just found this comic on the internet today and it rocks so hard that I am putting it into my list of comics that I regularly read. Congratulations on deepening my addiction to internet based comic strips. Peace out.

I love this. It’s just so random.
That sounds like something I would say when I want someone to shut up and go away.

Laksa is the best! Especially when you put two teaspoons of that deadly chilli powder in it.

January 27, 2005 at 10:03 am

Happy birthday sweetie! Sorry you had such a lame day.

I think this will cheer you up.

January 27, 2005 at 1:12 pm

Yeah, happy b-day.
Best birthday ever: turning 20. I was living with a friend in a vegetarian co-op, (ew….!), anyway, we would make donut runs late at night since Dunkin Donuts was the only thing open past 10 in our neighborhood. So, on my b-day, everyone wished me well, and we had cake, but later, we went for the typical donut run. Who should we see in Dunkin, but ALL my friends and aquaintances from school at the donut shop at 1:24 in the morning. It was soooo sweet! They wrote “20″ with boston cremes. Also: two homeless men sang to me from their booth, very Al Green-ishly.
Also: Pho, (Vietnamese noodle soup) kicks your ass and takes your name.

when you eat longevity noodles, remember not to bite them. you have to slurp the noodles whole to get the desired effect. otherwise, you are biting off your own life.

Damn, Jeni, your post instantly vaults this comment thread up to the stratosphere, right up there with the classic Men’s Room thread. Thanks!

for people who had problems playing the chinad.mpg file, it is not an MPEG but an ASF file. So open with Windows Media Player.

and it’s a Korean ad, not Chinese

It’s still the awesomest thing ever.

Great comic…every one makes me laugh. Keep it up!

January 31, 2005 at 1:29 am

i have come across that show before. all i saw though was a fish bowl or something to that effect, being held upside down against a naked woman’s body. She giggled and laughed as the fish sloshed around on her naked flesh. I was quite disturbed. It was fun though. :D

January 31, 2005 at 3:58 pm

Hey just wanted to say that this is the first comic that made me laugh out loud in a long time, aside from that

Tampopo is an awesome movie but that gangster with his wacky crawdads and eggs is just so freakin weird

April 8, 2005 at 11:39 pm

W00h00 I’m the only muthafucka here who’s seen Tampopo!

That movie was great, and the ramen looked so good I made some while I was watching it.

And then I went to a genuine Japanese restaurant and got had some real ramen the next day. Because you haven’t had ramen till you’ve had RAMEN. As in, the rizzle dizzle.
