Bernieh, that was so funny! This is my first post on the ALP forums and I have read every comic. I can’t wait to find out what happens now.

Ditto Azrael  good transition back to Corinna though.

"…the whole sex with altar boys thing." hahaha one of my adolescent fantasies. are altar boys supposed to be celibate like the priest? :?

Im looking forward to next weeks episode now…

On the subject of priests & alter boys; how can a man, pre-programmed with the need/desire to have sex and reproduce, really be expected to remain celibate? Trouble is, the catholic faith (boo, be a Jedi like me!) is so screwed up, like most religions if you think about it, that the poor guys just see a hole, and are overwhelmed to stick their… candle stick… into it, regardless of whether its male or female… or goat.

I also thought the smell issue was the trail of Abe’s cologne mixture from the UN (useless toss-pots) back to their apartment.

I guess Preston wasn’t intelligent enough to think of the Orthodox Pope (which a whole quarter of my family sides with) nor the Anti-Pope, my lord and master, the almighty squirrel. Then again, that would use up another additional frame, and cut and paste takes a lot out of a person.

Still, great comic and Mall Pope was priceless.

Just another example of correlation =/= causation. I find the idea that pedophiles seek out positions of trust in which they will have contact with children to be more likely than the notion that the vow of celibacy turns priests into pederasts.

I do agree that the policy is pretty stupid though, and, if I remember correctly, was enacted more for political reasons than anything else.

It was a very socio-political move; I believe wikipedia explains most of it, though fragmented and bias. That is the nice thing about Coptic ( Christian Eastern Orthodox); priests, even popes, can be married. Though, as a sign of respect and dedication, some do take a vow of celibacy to focus on spiritual enlightenment… not that I believe in any of that. I have a Coptic Priest as a relative in Egypt; he is married with seven children.

Edit: Though I believe the coptic nuns must remain pure unless they are widows (widows I know for sure are an exception). If they are found out to have had relations, they are likely to get stoned to death anyhow. If not by their neighbors, definitely by the Islamic local municipalities.

Hmm, interesting point Blaster, never really thought of it that way. Then again, the idea that kiddy-fiddlers would want to become a priest just to have access to young kids leaves me rather… yeah.

Babysitters and care workers for sure, but a social figure like a priest, in a posistion of great power (we are but sheep, please brain wash us oh mighty one  ) and respect, to have been a nonse all along?… nasty.

As for other cultures and their religions, they can keep ‘em, but stoning old ladies to death just because they needed some cobwebs clearing out is a bit harsh- interesting that if the extremists ever got their way and introduced sharriah (sp) law in the UK and abroad, we might actually see things like that happen, and the police would have to condone it; how screwed up is that?… :?

I love it. I’m at a Catholic college, and I’ve been looking for ways to get back at the VP for trying to get me to withdraw after I got really sick and was in the hospital for 2 weeks. She told me, among everything else, that "You’re not well enough to make your own decisions," and that I was a liability and had to leave.

I’m taping this all over the goddamned campus.

Well yes, thats true but i think you will find that by posistions of trust they mean getting jobs with access to children, not studying for years and spending every day learning about something just to have access to something thats litterally running around in public.

Oh, I’m sure it results from a confluence of factors, as do most things in life. Perhaps some of them think that religion will help them overcome their weakness, etc.

Excellent point! Had not considered that…

This is our moment of shame over here…

TL;dr: Leader of the Christian party was nailing a 12 yr old girl since she was 8, ran his political party on "Moral" and "harsh punishments for sex offenders"

This is an early version of the story, later on when he got hammered in court he changed his story to say she was consenting (at 12!) and could not seem to understand why he had to go to jail "Because she wanted him to"
