See, now you have to go watch that DVD in a very dark room to enjoy it. I know I only saw about half of the action in the theatre.

Ha! Greatness! :D

I just got the AVP-R special edition yesterday.
I wasn’t crazy about the movie, but as an obsessed fan, I have to have all of it. *sigh*

Suckquiem…*snicker*

Nope, I still reckon the best way to enjoy the dvd is to put it on in the next room with the sound muted, and then watch Aliens.

"Laugh it up, fuzzball". Heh, one of my favorite lines to tell my dogs.

Haven’t seen Requiem; the trailer made me wary, because it appeared to be trying to appeal to a different kind of audience–the kind that loves Mountain Dew and jumping off rooftops to land on their crotch. Not my thing.

EDIT: except Mountain Dew; I loves me the refreshing, uh, citrus…like…taste.

… but any serious Alien fan has to hate Suckquiem. As if aliens attack by slowly creeping towards you! They were so UN-deadly. absolutely sad.

Movie started off decent with characters, but went so downhill. AVP1 wasn’t perfect but kicked so much ass compared to AVP:R. To see the queen finally fleshed out and agile in CG was worth all of Suckquiem.

When will directors/writers/producers recognize: Aliens are deadly, deadly, DEADLY! (present company excluded, Abe). I’d give predators half a chance, humans: pretty damn near nil. … "because just one of those things managed to wipe out my entire crew in less than 24 hours!" C’mon people. Don’t buy AVP:R, it was a disgrace.

Bernie, I hope you will appreciate this in time.

I’m an Alien fan, but not a purist. I thought they were plenty deadly in AvPR anyway.

The queen in AvP1 was nice, yeah, and although it wasn’t AWESOME, it was still better than any individual part of AvPR. But otherwise AvP1 was a snooze.

Hey, is/was anyone else unsure of whether it’s "Laugh it up, furball" or "Laugh it up, fuzzball"? I thought it was the former, but then looked it up. Apparently other people get confused too.

I’ve never heard anybody say "furball" before. But hey, for all I know it’s the "Play it again, Sam" of geekdom.

GREAT COMIC!

Army of Darkness
June 5, 2008 at 5:25 pm

I get confused, but then again, I dont know where that line comes from so I would, wouldnt I.

As a dedicated Aliens fan, I found AVP to be a bit shite, especially since they tried to make it a PG rated film, and the fact that all the action takes place in some old deserted temple…. eh huh.

AVP:R was much better, but they still kinda messed around with the whole alien life cycle too much, and the characters sucked alot, despite their best efforts. My favourite line, which pretty much sums up probably the whole world’s view of America was:

"people are dying, we need guns!"

Yes, thats always the answer… though in that case it was, they just needed to actually fire them at the aliens and predator more. Note: do not stick head out of armoured car when you hear something crawling on it’s roof….

"Furball" gives me Wing Commander flashbacks.

Maybe I am in a good condition to enjoy AVP:R. I haven’t seen it yet, but I will be approaching it with low expectations, and I saw the trailer so long ago that I don’t remember most of it.

Good comic, Bernie.

Yeah, According to Wikipedia, the Predalien’s a girl.

She should be Abe’s Girlfriend! They could meet at an autograph signing or something. XD Abe needs a girlfriend….

But yeah, I agree. AVP: Suckquiem. The first movie was much more fun.

Abe has a point, the aliens are progressively becoming more mindless and frantic by every movie. They need to be stealthier and more cunning, like in the first film.

But a good comic today. :)

Hi to avaryone, I am an aged fan of the site but i never joined the forum, until today…

AVP1 got two main problems: lack of action and Raoul Bova (the male carachter).

Fortunately AVP2 has a lot more action but are filmed in black-scales…

I wonder what is happening to action-movie-makers…

PS: Idiana Jones 4 is great!!! (good Spielberg did it again!)

Anthony
June 6, 2008 at 10:57 am

the main problem is that in the first alien movies the aliens were kinda like the slasher film bad guys, you know, you barely saw them but they were always watching you and you never knew when a character would die, but know there more like the insect like beasties from starship troopers….. but anyway if you think THIS is bad then dont dare to rent AVH (… must …resist… urge.. to.. rent ..it.. rent it.. rent it rent it rent it MUST RENT)

AVH = Alien vs Hunter i believe, in other words its one of those movies that bluntly rip off something else in the hopes some dumb ass buys it thinking its the real thing.

I vote they create a whole new crossover, thats already been half done.

Aliens vs Batman.

The movie will last all off 30 minutes, and consist of an alien killing the Joker, the Batman being turned into a BatAlien.

Did you ever see the Aliens toys they brought out many years back- there was a snake alien, gorilla alien, praying mantis alien (wtf?!) and a few other versions with different styles (runner and drone etc), plus a flying alien, and a queen facehugger…

Oh yeah, and a Bishop figure with a minigun (must have missed that in the film  )….

FINALLY!!

My moment of fame arrives!

I had one of the first produced copys of those toys, the Scorpion/alien hybrid.

I used to put the facehugger it came with onto my starwars action figures.

Nice… you’re talking about this:

I happen to have this, the "Night Cougar Alien" vs. Vazquez. A buddy of mine gave it to me as a gift. I think it’s still in the original box.

My scorpian alien was different, it was orange/black and came with a orange/clear facehugger, it had a button that made it explode when you pushed it.

Would have been.. 1989 (more or less..) when i got it.

Found a link (Excuse the external link)

I actually borrowed my friend’s alien warrior figure to use as a study-aid for art class. It had a button that made it explode on the back too like the weird hybrid aliens…. **regressing to childhood**

I watched it, hoping it would be bad in a funny way, but it wasn’t. It was bad in a profoundly bad way. I felt sorry for the people who made it, because they had to release it and have their names on it.

The cover was actually pretty neat. In fact, I think I can safely say that the best part of that movie was the cover on the box. I don’t think I’d even want to see a Mystery Science Theatre 3000 episode featuring Alien vs. Hunter.

In regard to AvP:R..

It was just 2 god damned dark. At one point (where the pred moves from the forrest to the sewers to destroy the bodys) i really had no idea where he was, i thought he had gone to the same location twice.
